how do i upgrade my skill points

    Hi its JR again.
First off thanks to all you guys that have helped an Old Veteran out. My skill is low 0674. Going through my gear, if i change to a higher skill then i lower another skill that might be as impotent. Reading through the forum threads players are on say, 1000 or 2000 skill and there Health, Armour are high level to. This i cannot work out. Could some one advise me on the way to go about this, normally i would go to the store room and pick up my fatigues for the mission in hand, nice and simply. Yours JR. P.S. Hell i'm still alive, they worked.

From my point of view I decided to prioritise armour, health and weapon damage over skill power because a fully skill based build doesn't appeal to me. Because of that I only have about 500 skill power but you can get batteries that fit in the slots on the skills which will allow you to use mods in other slots of a higher level than you could normally use. For example 500 skill power plus a 1000 battery will let me use skill mods up to 1500 resulting in more damage, faster cooldown etc That way I don't have to sacrifice armour etc Does that make sense?

Skill Power is one of the attributes that the gear you loot might have on it -- marked with a yellow battery icon.

If you have, say, a good pair of knee pads with a small amount of skill power (or skill haste) already on it, and a rubbish pair of knee pads with a large amount of skill power on it, you can use the recalibration station at the White House to move the high skill power to the better gear. Other than that, you'll just have to find gear that already has it on it, and that's just random chance.

But you're right, you're going to have to make some tradeoffs in any build, because they only let you have a small amount of anything on any one piece of gear. I'd say only worry about getting enough skill power to run whatever skill mods you've picked up, and focus on dealing damage and armor/health.

A lot depends on what type of build you are wanting to make..Are you basing your build on damage from your weapons like ,lmg's ,AR's,Pistols and so on?Or are you basing your build and damage around skills ,like turret, seekers, drones and so on?

You have to get lucky with gear drops that have high skill power or wait and buy items from the clan system that is broken. I bought 2 weeks ago from level 20 clan a item that had 1000+ skill power on a vest piece. Waiting for RNG drops for skill you can wait forever but it will eventually come.

As others have said, unless you are getting some really special drops on gear you pretty much have to prioritize -- do you want to focus on doing damage with skills? That could mean playing in the back field instead of up front (if part of a group) or spending a lot of time behind cover because you don't have the armour or health to take fire while engaging with your weapons.

A compromise approach is to shoot for somewhere around 800 - 1000 skill power on your gear but put a battery mod on the gadget (talent) that needs a boost in skill power, as Abarth_71 described.

Justin Case you haven't noticed, take a look at your talent stats. You can have a skill power there that is higher than the basic skill power shown on your character's inventory screen. The difference is the result of mods.... either mods on your gear or that battery mod on the gadget (talent) itself.

So, figure out which talents you want to use regularly and get gear mods that boost that talent's skill power and get battery mods for the talent.

Option B is to go for a build based on skill power but that's going to cost you weapon damage attributes and armour/health attributes. If you want to go that route you will find some good advice in this thread:
