    A major waste of potential- AC OD story creator

    Let’s preface this by stating that I am playing through AC OD only because of the fact I lost a bet to my friends. While the game is horrible and still stand for the boycott the Story mode creator is a fine tool. But as it currently stands it is a trash heap. Even quest creators from games like Titan quest- a game that is 12 years old- have more features.


    But I not gonna berate the game devs, for their lazy sloppy work. But instead offer a bunch of suggestions that would greatly fix this horribly butchered engine.



    1) Why release a mobile boot stapper, for a single player game? There should have been a DLC that adds a PHYSICAL mode to AC OD. Switching from in game, to a website just to fix it, relaunch the game,and relaunch everything is a major pain in the ***. Why could you not just have a in menu updater for the mode?


    HUD /interface

    1) why are we not able to resize any block? How come we can only resize group objective? Why can I not see my quests as tiles? Why do I have to screw around with Zoom and drag? What bad website coding is this


    2) why do we lack the ability to change the colour of nodes and path lines? Rather then making a major mess, allow us to pick a colour for each node. Which would allow for easier tracking of objectives and chains.

    3) Why am I not allowed to Copy and Paste an objective!! I don’t want to remake a node that I already made. What is a select X in group command and copy really that hard to make?

    4) why can we not edit sequence of dialogue from many sequences at once. So that we don’t have to rewrite everything. And it would make it easier to keep the flow of ideas.



    Dialogue

    1) it’s been said to death- allow is to have a plug in and a module for our text- chat. If your to lazy to make a voice synthesizer let the modders do it instead. But provide us the tools needed to do so

    2) why can we not select multiple emotions? Why can’t we select eg “kneeling to gods” in the first line and then “determined hands down” in the second line? Why do I have to make a new sequence for it?

    3) Why does Kassandra / Alexios have to be in the dialogue? If I want to make a quest that eg- I want a character to convince another who we spoken to to betray us. I should be able to do so.


    Objectives / Camera

    1) applies to all objectives- why must I control alexios or Kassandra? Why can we not have dynamic quests, that require us to use both / none etc, for example as a quest I would as Kassandra go into a Fort and the objective would say kill, but in truth It wa staged to kill her and get her captured? And then have alexios / etc come and save her?

    2) No give X AI to X. I want to be able to decide that if on X- X will use certain moves or certain combos.

    3) No spot X with Icarus and go investigate quest objective / starter — why?

    4) inability to spawn animals, objects, mercenaries, mythic etc, or anything at all under water- why?

    5) Why do we have to use pre determined locations to escort / travel / defend- is it that hard to add a Set X line for X to follow behaviour?

    6) Why can we not set a cage?

    7) Why can we not pick features on a premise skeleton for asset design? Aka helmet, skin, arms, legs, torso, weapon 1, weapon 2, Animations, Prefix / suffix, color for each

    8) why the limit of 30 assets? Why is this 2003? Around 10K is more accurate




    .... many many other issues


    All of these are failures. They are disappointing. This story mode creator is a hunk of garbage. It is under developed, it lacks features. It is not user friendly. And it’s very inconvenient to use.

    I would have to give this mode a 2.5 /10 due to what Ubisoft can create but what they made. It’s disgusting.






    But I implore you all to suggest other fixes. As if they added the above features, the toll would be at 7.5 /10. Since it still would be comparable to story creators of 2015

    Forgot these mentions in post

    - inability to set enemy powers
    - inability to set enemy health, resitances, defence, level, and combat phases. [let say at 33% say X, then heal to full, go immune until minions are dead, say X, become vulnerable etc etc.

    I didn't read the rest, but this is such a juvenile thing to say, "I lost a bet to my friends because huh, we're like making bets and stuff about what games to buyy haa"
    This is such a 12 year old kid lie, and I doubt you even have friends to bet with, and that whole cringe sentence is probably why your thread is not going to get the traction you intended.

    So, this embarrassing crap aside, the whole thread screams entitled. Virtually almost all of your suggestions are worded obnoxiously, and most of them are either minor and a waste of time to implement, or absolutely insane, or impossible.

    The audio voice acting one needs to be dispelled though - I'm not sure you know, but atm you're downloading every story from a cloud when you play. there is no way audio files are going to be attached, it's simply a bad idea in execution.

    Actually there is nothing entitled about holding a major global corporation responsible and accountable. They are not a indie dev. That had no time or knowledge. But a company that employs over 1000 people. So yes they have the technical knowledge and the tools to create the above.

    1) the excuse your entitled is a cop out. It’s lazy way to try to discredit someone’s ideas

    2) with 38 posts o don’t expect you to understand what your talking about.

    3) all the suggestions are possible. Sound emulation is not coded but is run on the clients / hoasts machine so no need to pre render sound like you stated.
    .... likewise all the sugggestions are possible. Open up the game and you see these objectives.


    So putting them in the mode is not hard, they are just lazy. Just for context buy Titan quest. A 10-11 year old game. And then use their quest editor. You will be surprised. Then come back, and don’t be butt hurt. And then read the rest

    So saying you're entitled was a lazy way to discredit you, but my post count (that's due to me having other interests, and also having a life to run, lol) on a UBISOFT forum none the less, is valid?

    Adding audio files was a possible suggestion, but one that is going to render downloading the stories unbearable.
    Creating an entire system to emulate sound - that is unrealistic, do you know what money or resources are?

    Besides, I'm entertained that you think you're holding someone accountable with this obnoxious little thread, lol what a ridiculous thought.
    Let me explain, this is a free of charge, bonus feature in a game that they added because of probably one nice and over enthusiastic employee's idea.
    Not part of the base game, it's an afterthought.

    It's a miracle that this tool is being updated and expanded on, it's not obvious that this tool has a team of people who work to update it. As far as I see, I don't think they're getting their money's worth out of this tool, that is why when you pretend to come here and flip the table and berate some 5 employees that work on this - you sound obnoxious and entitled. Understood? Grow up.

    There is no way that what I wrote conveys an angry emotion. I loaded my conversation grammatically to emphasize the points. It is worded and phrased in a neutral manner. Your mind interpreted it as aggressive because you are butt hurt by my into lines.


    Text on a page can not convey emotion. Nothing in my suggestion is angry. It is criticism of a publisher and the features of this mode.



    1) I not saying this thread is accountable but @UBI... make it so. As their job is to convey all and every criticism that is posted on the forums. That is their job. So even if no one reads if or comments they will have to bring it to the dev team. And these features would be considered and perhaps added. As of such yes this thread holds Ubi accountable.

    2) Having a life does not change the fact you do not know the community. I work full time. And play games. Not being in touch with the community or other games is evident from your conversation. Although my account - forums- states I joined in 2018. I been playing AC games since prince of Persia.

    3) That would remove the bloat missions in story creator and would filter the bad from the good. That is a positive in my view

    4) Your claim that 5 ppl work on this mode is not substantial. Knowing that AC games are collaboration of 4-5 studios it highly unlikely that only 5 ppl are working on it. Knowing that these studious make up over 600+ ppl.

    PS- saying grow up in this context makes no sense. You being insulting is not helping your cause

    The SCM came out as a beta, Ubi is still upgrading and expanding it every week. If you dont like the game, why are you still playing it? Drop the game and go play your stupid Titan Quest. (which I have played, by the way, biggest load of CRAP ever)

    Ubisoft is my fav game developer of all time, they have given me countless hours of fun, and according to me, they are the GODS of gaming, and I will not have them berated like that.

    Nothing like a good ole flame war. I too have played Titan Quest and must admit i spent too many hours playing it.
    I moved on to the Assassins Creed line of games with Black Flag and have got every one since.
    I just like the ARPG genre so i'm going to say both games have their flaws and merits.
    This is the Story Creator Mode forum so back to the relevance.
    @ballon009 has some valid points so have you ever thought of rocking up to a software house and submitted your resume?
    Since you have great insight maybe you could help design AC Wild Wild West or AC Medieval for all of us to play.

    I don’t flame anyone. My style of cristism is just of such style. I was not saying Titan quest is better. But referring to the story creator. Which it has and is more in depth then Story creator mode in AC OD. And it is an older game.


    I got a strong love- hate relationship with Ubisoft. I love what they can do, but hate when they screw it up. So I emphasized the necessary points.





    And ps yes I k ow it’s still being worked on. However I am sick of this gaming trend. If release something that is crude and misshaped. And then having to wait months- years for them to make it great. That is not how you reward people for playing the game. And this is a trend with all their games. Since AC black flag. But now it got worse with AC syndicate. And was taken up to a 10 instead of a 4/10.


    That is why people need to get angry at Ubisoft more often. As they do nothing until people take them by the throat.
