I just spent some time over on the MW sub Reddit and what I observed there was very different from what I’ve seen here and on the Ghost Recon Sub Reddit.
The first thing that stood out was the incredible enthusiasm there and posts like these...

These are not cherry picked examples, these are typical of the posts there.
But they also have many many posts acknowledging bugs or answering questions from their community manager...

And the most interesting thing to me was the rumour that they may offer an open world game play mode where you can select from among 80 different missions to tackle however you want in coop or solo.
I think there are some lessons to be learned here Ubisoft. It’s time to stop messing around with Red Riding Hood and engage with those who you want to spend $200+ on your game. Or watch it wither on the vine I guess.
Yea I agree COD is nailing it this time around. As I said before I haven’t played the game in a long time because I didn’t like how inauthentic it all felt.
I won’t pretend the game is a full blown military sim, but damn it’s impressive. It’s got my attention for sure.
GR should be looking for ways to make those intense gunfights more intense in sound. Playing the COD you can’t help but get immersed into it, in large part due to the sound effects. Listening to footsteps, dropping a mag, little rattles of the equipment. It’s fantastic
I'm sorry... what? open world COD?Originally Posted by VirtualRain. Go to original post

Yeah. There's a rumor that Spec Ops might be open world.Originally Posted by Glass_Ghost Go to original post
If that comes true, I might just be sold. .....and the Realistic mode. I'm interested in that too.Originally Posted by A-p-o-l-l-y-o-n Go to original post
I also played the alpha and while I have to say 2v2 really wasn't for me since it simply forced that CoD, run & gun, jump around, twitch shooter action I hate, I did notice how they tried to tone it down and I can appreciate that. I also like how the weapons handled and "felt". ....pretty cool.
To be honest, I think the only game that will scratch the tactical shooter PvP itch for me this year will be Insurgency Sandstorm. GRB is seeming more and more like a lost cause (to me) and the PvE / co-op aspect of it was ruined IMO when they blended it with PvP and it's classes, RPG elements, etc.
In the meantime, CoD MW is looking like more of a contender than GRB as my next game but we'll have to see. I will play the "open" beta for MW and if I am fortunate enough (I guess) to be chosen, I will play the GRB "closed" beta too.
The Gunsmith isn't the only thing IW is doing right IMO. I think they are doing a better job at communicating and offering far more gameplay and play style options to their player base than Ubi is. If Ubi focused on the weapons in GRB instead of classes, etc. like IW is with MW, offered more options (like a hardcore mode), more maps, player counts, etc. GRB and GW would be absolutely brilliant IMO.
The ability to pick your own adventure as far as order doesn't make a game open world. Nor does using an otherwise empty map as an interactive menu system. That was what COD:MW is supposedly doing. You can either boot the SpecOps missions from menu, or you can wonder to their area on the map and then choose to boot it up. However, until you do there are no enemies/people on the map.Originally Posted by VirtualRain. Go to original post
You pretend to know what you're on about but half the time you spout BS. Noone knows what the spec ops is. NOONE. But leaks (that have pretty much all been true) point towards an open world experience. Could you point me to where you have got your info from?Originally Posted by Bone_Frog Go to original post
I'm not expecting it to be be as in depth as the dead auroa island, as thats obviously UBIs selling point, but with the great range of other multiplayer modes including realism and campaign that will be controversial as hell. This game will have hell of a lot more character and cater to a hell of a lot more people than breakpoint will..
And you won't have to wear beanies and underpants that grant you added stealth and damage resistance bonuses.
Everything MW has shown and how the developers react with their playerbase scream passion and understanding of the community. Whearas breakpoint is so far from what the community wanted. It's just a wildlands copy and paste from the sounds, the animations, the visuals, the player models and weapon models etc etc. Not to mention they just threw in farcry and division elements which obviously don't feel like they're implemented well at all and are just shoved in to grab more people to this game. It's a cashgrab. It's such a shame.
There's no improvements. But prone camo! That's literally the only cool addition I've seen people go on about haha. (And its just a gimmick. It won't even matter unless your wearing that pair of trousers with added stealth bonus)
And I'm a long long time Ghost Recon fan.
I can't believe how much more excited I am for call of duty. It's actually sad.
All the people that are invested in Breakpoint and are accepting the dissapointment they'll recieve will just convince themselves that anyone who mentions CoD are just fanboys that are trying to just make a point that CoD will be better. When the truth is they've captivated us at how much passion seems to have been invested in their game. BP is a cash grab. And I think the Devs know it which is why they won't bother to interact with their community. Maybe it's the shareholders that ****ed it.. probably.
I'm so so dissapointed. When BP was announced I was super fkin excited.
Anyway I'm going to bed. I won't be wasting anymore time on these forums.
Interesting...... Do you have a source for this? I found the rumors about the "open world" but nothing as specific as what you point out. There was also mention of finding weapons / accs in the open world as well in one article.Originally Posted by Bone_Frog Go to original post
Either way, we should be getting more info on SpecOps in the coming days so I guess we'll see what was truly just assumption and what turns out to be true. That's the problem with leaks is that you just never know sometimes and often folks will extrapolate on them with their own speculation. I always try to find the root of the source when I can but then take that with a grain of salt as well.
If you have that article/link I'd be interested in reading it if you don't mind. Thanks.
