Meaning if a person is interested in buying/playing 4 honor but wants to check it out through spectator mode first is there a way for them to download just the spectator mode free on console?

Spectator Mode will be a free update for the game of For Honor... since it presumably runs through the game I personally can't imagine that it will be available as a independent option. That said, I imagine that access to Spectator Mode will bring about an influx of player content showing the game through the mode, which may be where one could get the chance to check out the game.

Logical. Though I see no reason ubi wouldn't use it as a marketing tool directly as a free download.
