    Arcade At All Time Low

I have been playing the arcade maps for a very long time now. I've probably played over 1000 maps. I hit level 500 once and now I'm at level 410. In the beginning, there were a lot of talented, creative map creators. Now, it seems there are many, many UNcreative, UNimaginitave, illogical, boring, and stupid maps flooding the arcade, not to mention the maps that have been stolen from the original map creators. Some, if not most, of the "makers" don't even give credit to the original creators. Map makers and map creators. A big difference. It's quite obvious if you have to steal (and yes, I consider it stealing) another person's hard work all under the umbrella of improvising or making some kind of unneeded adjustment, you have no creativity. Simple as that. I don't care who I offend and I don't care who gets pissed off at this post. If you have to steal another person's work, you are just an uncreative map-making thief. And you're probably wondering why your map only has one or two stars. And as I stated, if you don't like my post or it pisses you off, I don't care. This post will probably be locked or deleted, which will prove my point of how censorship has taken over social media. God forbid anyone voices an opinion which is unpopular with the masses.

To the original map creators who put out creative, fun maps, keep up the good work! You are the reason I keep coming back to the arcade. And for the wannabes, learn from the creators and maybe you'll be able to create a map and not just make one.

This topic comes up every now and then. Like here

I think this may be a difference in viewpoint between the devs and the community. The devs obviously want people to remix maps, becuase otherwise they'd have put a construct in to prevent this from happening. They spent time adding the "original creator" field to maps, might just as well have added a password-protection to a map to prevent republishing.

The community sometimes doesn't like PLAGIARISM (heh who does!), so the Far Cry Code of Conduct was formed, and actually specifically forbids map stealing. However, I've never seen proof of any action taken on that note.

Managing the User Generated Content that is maps doesn't seem to have much priority. Even the Editor could be considered an afterthought, as I think most people just play the main campaign.

Which IMO is a real shame, because with some little tweaks to the Custom Map experience, the Map Edititing community can really shine! Let's hope for some better decision making in the next title!

It would be nice if Ubisoft banned the exploiters/hackers like fc5_sp33d_h4ck3r on ps4 who just go around harassing lobbies by one hit meleeing people in the speed of light.

I am confused as to what you are really saying.

"maps that have been stolen from the original map creators" Stolen in what way?

"It's quite obvious if you have to steal (and yes, I consider it stealing) another person's hard work all under the umbrella of improvising or making some kind of unneeded adjustment, you have no creativity"
Time has moved on, maps are not as challenging as they were when created. Making adjustments to difficulty and re-uploading is the only real way to play them, as playing them in arcade editor is not an option (in a window)

Nobody "owns" the maps. All maps are created in users own time. no money changes hand. It is not against the terms of service to modify maps unless credit is not given to original creator.

    How is this stealing?

You also say: "Now, it seems there are many, many UNcreative, UNimaginitave, illogical, boring, and stupid maps flooding the arcade".

So you don't want maps as you mention, but you criticize those that try to change that.

We are a community that works together. We want good maps to play. Who cares what star rating we get, I don't. I just want to play good challenging maps. And if this means editing
" UNcreative, UNimaginitave, illogical, boring, and stupid maps", I will.

Please do not put people down for wanting to raise the standard of maps and make them more challenging.

Anytime someone republishes a map made by another creator, even with the slightest change, it is indeed stealing.

I agree some maps could be more fun with better weapon loadouts, but that wasn't the original creator's vision.

There is ZERO excuse to ever copy someone else's map. If you think you can do it better, start from scratch. This is called being original.

I don't consider remakes of maps from other games as stolen because I have seen some amazing ones. (Excluding that horrific Nuketown remake that has been stolen hundreds of times and is just plain sloppy.)

    Be original, not a thief.

I agree on the stealing but if a map builder contacts the original creator and they agree to using their work it's different.

In the case of New Bastion there was one guy who never finished his map on PC it was left empty with just a building (really well designed) left as a template for others to use the map was published in that state.

The other was on PS4 and I liked the underground area of the map, wanted to make something similar to Bastion from FC2 and decided to merge those two maps together and then alter / rebuild a large percentage of what they had done.

Also did the outside area, reworked in different ways in and out - had you seen both maps you could tell a lot of work was added but could also yes I used 2 other peoples maps, I put their names in the map and don't claim it as my own.

Personally I would love a way to password protect a map so if you give out the password others can download it and work on the map that would allow multiple people to work on projects together without having to publish the map which puts it out there for everyone before a friend can download it then the uploader has to request it to be deleted as it's an unfinished map.
Also if I use something from another map it would be nice to have a tag from those builders who have contributed so they get credit.

Some build assets maps such as this below - a huge percentage I would say over 95% can't build things like this these tanks / space ships people build it's specialist work sure we could spend forever trying but if others can do it with their eyes shut and are willing to share them for others then surely thats a good thing.

Would love a way for map builders to upload their custom build creations that they want to allow others to use and have an area where people can rate / comment on them, if I use one I download it to my map and the map gets a tag with that builders name on it so that way anyone looking at the map stats would see others have helped / contributed.

I totally agree with this ^

That would be amazing if there was a database for user created content in the object inventory!

I totally should have mentioned above that there are maps out there that were started to be finished by others. Those maps above are awesome as are all of your maps Fallen Champ.

A password system would be fantastic. Too bad Arcade and editor is usually just an afterthought on Farcry games. This could easily be a Call of Duty killer in the right hands with a little TLC.

That's ok buddy I think we all feel the same reference maps been copied, the worst thing is when one is taken and re-uploaded with no changes even keeping the same loadouts and map image then to really add further insult sometimes the copied version gets more exposure and more plays, the Original Creators name should be bigger and always on the map image when it loads up plus at the end when you vote there should be a SEE MORE MAPS BY THIS CREATOR option plus a way to FOLLOW the Original Creator and get prompts when you log in if they have published a new map.

It is IZOOLEE who makes my maps look better we have worked on a bunch together and his level of detail and skills at building things from scratch goes way beyond what I can do, I am more into layouts and weapon / spawn placement but i do try, thanks for the kind words.

^^ You guys should be the ones working for Ubisoft, the Arcade needs good ideas like yours and someone with the passion this game needs to reach it's true potential.
