So I hope you all are aware of the Warrior's Den of today. Centurion rework was leaked, Gladiator and Warlord changes were also announced. Overall great news.
What I'm concerned about is the Centurion rework, so I will list the things that I agree with and the things I don't agree with:
I agree with:
-The removal of the cutscene. I am glad that people no longer feel helpless whenever they mistime the parry timing on Cent's heavies
-Zone is now feintable after each strike. Very good change, everyone can agree
-Unblockable is now feintable. We have been wanting this for the longest time, thumbs up Ubisoft
-Punch is now feintbale. Comparing the Centurion's punch from live servers to Hitokiri's kick/sweep we can clearly see which is superior. So it's time Centurion steps it up
-Lights being 500 ms all around the board
I disagree with:
-The heavy damage staying the same. Now that he has to mindgame for his charged punch, landing a charged heavy doesn't mean much anymore if it does the same damage as a normal heavy. I know, it's supposed to catch mistimed parries by altering the parry timing, but it could use a 5 dmg buff
-The unblockable should guarantee something. It's not everyday that you hit it, so it would be nice if it could guarantee a haymaker punch that only did stamina damage but no actual damage
Things I am unsure about:
-From what I've seen in the Warrior's Den Livestream, the punch feint timing was so delayed that the opponent could actually dodge the punch even if it's feinted into gb and still get away with it. That's how I saw it, let's hope that's not the case because that would literally confirm Centurion as being the official worst character with the removal of the cutscene
-Charged punch dodge timing being the same as non charged punch. We all know that this is how it is at the moment, Centurion does a punch, you dodge and even if he does a charge you dodge both timings. I hope that is no more after the rework because, reiterating, that would make him unplayable
So what is your opinion on the rework? Good? Bad? Decent? I certainly don't think it's Raider tier, neither Warden tier or Kensei tier. But it is decent
The things that worry me are if his recoveries are addressed at all or not. As charging the jab at all currently gives anyone who dodges it a free GB on reaction. charging the jab seems to have better tracking vs someone who early dodges which is good. It means you likely don't dodge on the same time anymore. The recoveries for his heavy finisher are bad all around weather you charge or not. So hopefully that was looked at.
I can say I agree that his damage needs a buff. As by removing the guaranteed charged jab they not only kill his ganking in one change but also his OOS punishes in one game. He already doesn't have a light parry punish. I know the devs don't really look at max punishes when it comes to balancing by their own admission. but you can't over look this. You semi buff his mix up game but severly screw him in the one department that he was built for. Which is punishing.
I also do worry about the feint timing. The feint to GB after a jab seemed fine to me. it was the feinting from a charged heavy that looked slow. Hell it looks like they might have slowed down the fully charged jab too. (but they could have just added more wind up and not actually adjusted it's speed.) I'm very nervous overall. I like some of what was done. But it doesn't seem like the devs considered everything when making the changes.
I'm looking forward to playtesting on the 29th. But I am fully prepared to go full rant mode if even one thing i'm concerned about is validated from playtesting.
his punch never was unpunishable by dodge attacksOriginally Posted by Morpheus256 Go to original post

Posted the patch notes as a sticky thread:
https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.ph...August-29-2019
1. Why on earth are his heavies 25 damage still?
2. Why does the charged unblockable not give anything, is still only 30 damage and why does its feint seem so obvious?
3. Is his freaking light parry punish seriously going to remain 25 damage???
4. Why does the kick still look 600ms?
5. Why on earth does he have 500ms, 12 damage chain lights, when you can use his 500ms, 25 damage, multiple timing heavies instead? Like.... what?
6. Does the charged punch seriously not track dodges?
7. Can you just prediction dodge and avoid everything, because it sure as hell looked like it?
This is looking extremely grim. Centurion's rework is make or break the game for me, what they showed was like they took a lunch break during his rework and forgot to finish it.
According to the patch notes they did buff his damage up a bit. But yeah. as it stands his punishes across the board have been basically nuked.Originally Posted by EvoX. Go to original post
You guys are insane. A multi layered bash that can be feinted. A fast zone that can be feinted. Sped up attacks. This is warden tier rework. That punch will be the bread and butter of his kit. If i am not mistaken punch should now be feintable to kick, so thats like a highlander mixup there. He is going to be pretty good in the right hands.
His kick is far more reactable than highlanders and you can't even soft feint to or from it. Even if his jab is all hunky dory now that doesn't change how weak his punishes will be and how weak his team play now is due to the loss of guaranteed fully charged jab.Originally Posted by SixAxe505 Go to original post
Like i'm not saying there isn't any good in the look so far. but to say he'll be amazing now is completely false.
