[BUG] World's Fair architectural event, shown rewards might not reflect what you get

Recently I have been trying to figure out World's Fair rewards pools based on game files. I uploaded the effect of my work to the Wiki: https://anno1800.fandom.com/wiki/World%27s_Fair_Events

I asked a few people to report me what they get to check if my analysis of game files was correct. And while testing it, we discovered a mistake in game files which causes the World's Fair interface to not reflect what rewards you actually get. It happens only in case of architectural events for City Furniture and Plaza Design reward pools.

In both cases as one of the reward you are supposed to get either flagpoles or billboards and you should get 5 of them. Unfortunately the way it was programmed in files make it so that you might get both types of ornaments and their amount sums up to 5. However, for example in case of City Furniture you are supposed to get:
    1) 15 mosaic pavings
    2) either 5 billboards or 5 flagpoles
    3) 2 morris columns

Because of point 2), you might end up getting 15 mosaic pavings, 3 flagpoles, 2 billboards and 2 morris columns but the World's Fair UI has place only for 3 types of ornaments so it shows mosaic pavings, flagpoles and billboards but doesn't show morris columns.

Here is a screenshot of numbers of ornaments before running the event:

Here is a screenshot of rewards you get during event (City Furniture reward pool):

And here's a screenshot of numbers of ornaments after the event:

You can see that the result is that you get not only 15 mosaic pavings, 3 flagpoles and 2 billboards (as World's Fair UI indicates) but you also get 2 morris columns.

The problem lies in assets.xml file inside data12. In the World's Fair rewards pools section, the file indicates that you are supposed to get 5 ornaments from a reward pool which contains two ornaments: flagpoles and billboards. The number 5 should be rather assigned specifically to flagpoles and billboards, not to the general reward pool that has both these ornaments inside it. Because of that issue you might end up getting both these ornaments and just the sum of them is 5. So you end up getting 4 types of ornaments (you also get morris columns) but the UI has place only for 3 types of ornaments and doesn't indicate that you also got morris columns.
My example was for City Furniture pool but the similar issue is also with Plaza Design pool.

I hope my detailed post helps you find where the issue exactly is.

Has this issue been forwarded to the development team? Recently some of Ubisoft's employees posted their answers in many threads here and looks like either my thread has been omitted or simply no answer has been given. It's nothing gamebreaking but I would just appreciate an information if this was presented to the developers.

I've heard that competitive players use professional architectural tools lol. Something like this one probably https://concalculator.com/cubic-feet-calculator/. The friend of mine told me that after using it in construction found it to be useful by mere accident.

You might be on to something Banan. If the rewards the Worlds Fair gives you is not in par with what the game files say, then there might be potentially something flimsy going on here. That should warrant for a investigation to ensure that the Worlds Fair is distributing the correct ornamental rewards and amount of them. I would bring this up to the developers directly if I where you. There is a stream set to be on Twitch this Monday (beware of the clocks going forward one hour on Sunday night) and if you can make it to attend the stream, you could try get Basti's attention on this. So he can have a look at this thread and forward it to the team to further investigate this.

I myself am not that far in the game yet. So what I recommend you to do is to further investigate this. Do more of these exhibitions and observe (very carefully) the rewards pools further. Collect more evidence of this potential problem. Then have all this ready in time for Monday when you bring this to Basti's attention during the stream. I'm sure the developers will know what to do from there and if they do indeed find something, then let us hope they work on a patch for it soon.

Keep up the great work and efforts Banan!

    Best,
    Feruda

    Hey everyone!

I'm very sorry this thread was missed by us at the beginning. This was all written very well and it's sad that it feel through the cracks.

The description provided makes perfect sense to me and that can be investigated. As this thread was created 5 months ago, is anyone able to confirm if this issue is still apparent?

Once again I must apologise for not seeing this earlier, you clearly put a lot of effort into informing us.

Ubi-Raziel I have heard of this still persisting. I seen people talking about this in the ANNO Wiki. Where they explain and feel like the loot system in ANNO 1800 is totally broken. I am not sure if they are being World Fair specific or if they are talking about the entire loot table system in general for ANNO 1800. I myself have not yet reached the point of having a World's Fair so I cannot investigate this myself yet. And I won't be able to for awhile due to the game breaking bug with Nadasky's Journal that I have been hearing recently is effecting players still today. I am at the part of the Sunken Treasures quest line that is before that bugged portion of the quest line and I don't dare continue, fearing I will be on the same boat as all the other players then. And I have too many hours invested in my current game save to start all over again. But when playing the expeditions and other content that has loot tables I haven't felt anything yet that something was off. But maybe I am not noticing it yet or maybe it only effects the World Fair. But then again I have been grinding the hardest level rescue expeditions in an attempt to get the specialist to be able to build the Extravaganza Steamer.

But for lower level expeditions and also when diving with the salvager I have noticed that I frequently get doubles of the same item or animal or artifact. And there has been some talk of this as well by other players. But that talk that I have observed had to do with animals from the ocean when diving with the salvager. They described getting plenty of doubles. Lots of fishies for the fish tanks in the zoo for them.

But I have been observing things in the game, on the forums, and occasionally the ANNO Wiki. And this is what I have seen so far from my observations. I hope that this is of some help for you. But it seems that Banan may have more helpful data and concrete evidence of what may potentially be going on in the game. Either way I do hope this can be investigated. So that if there really is something wrong with the loot table in ANNO 1800, it can be pinpointed and solved.

    Best,
    Feruda
