That's just simply not true. I was going fine blocking and parrying 400ms lights in 2017 when I first got good at this game, not it's just a matter of relearning what was lost.Originally Posted by The_B0G_ Go to original post
I used to think that you had to hold R2 while hitting R1 to do an offensive light attack, but if you do it fast enough, you can take your finger off R2 and hit R1 and you'll get your offensive light attack, if you want to stay in OS just move straight back to R2 after hitting R1.Originally Posted by kharneth888 Go to original post
Is HL the hero you're having issues with light spam with? I had to stop playing him at rep 25 because of it, it's too hard to deal with, his crushing counters got a small buff to it's startup after a guard stance switch that makes them easier to land, so you could try that as well. He's pretty hard to use vs light spam though, he's too slow, his HA initiates too late to be useful.
Wasn't PK and orochi the only hero in 2017 with a 400 ms attack? Both zones too, the game is completely different now.Originally Posted by kharneth888 Go to original post
I have to semi claw the controller. Using my middle finger to hold heavy and the pointer to use the light.Originally Posted by kharneth888 Go to original post
Interesting regarding HL. I don't often use him, but when I was training with him I was getting very confused about how to do it and started entering offensive stance with my middle finger and it felt very weird and clunky.
I've been maining Raider since soon after launch and have chosen to continue to do so. I'm light spamming, myself, and it works pretty great, honestly. Orochis light spamming is probably the biggest thing (regarding light spamming) that I'm dealing with.
I know that my main problem is that I'm attempting to parry too much and since I've lost my parry-timing, I'm turning successful blocks into failed parries, but even when I decide I'm not going to parry anything except unblockables, I just can't block enough attacks. Sometimes I'll block none of the attacks and sometimes I'll block only a couple, but it's not enough to survive and I end up being forced to go on the offensive in order to survive. When on the offensive, if my enemy knows how to parry I'll lose.
The big killer strategy with Raider is feinting, but since I can't even get my parry timing down the feinting isn't being useful at all.
Yeah and I was parrying them reliably on their opening attack. Back after the first couple weeks there were PKs everywhere light spamming and I adjusted and was able to defend against it. Now there are more fast light attacks, but the speed hasn't increased, just the abundancy.Originally Posted by The_B0G_ Go to original post
I refuse to believe that it's impossible because I've done it before.
I do this too, i mean i can switch up using just one finger but its too much of a hassle, thats propably the only reason i dont play HL 😆Originally Posted by Knight_Raime Go to original post
So, this thread is not a complaint about fast attacks, but a sincere question for strategies to overcome it.
Currently, I'm thinking the best strategy is as the moderator said and simply practice on spamming bots. Does anyone have a good method for practicing against bots? I've tried the Training section, the Custom Match section, and Matchmaking Duels against AI but can't figure out which is the most useful.
When you fight them in matchmaking duels are they level 3?
Pk opener is not 400 though, it's 500, the second light is the 400.
Lightspam is these characters offense, they were sped up to stop an easily accessible counter existing against them. Going offensive is just as important in defending yourself as countering succesfully. I learned it when I switched to pk, assassin mirrors are even more about succesful attacks and killing faster than the enemy.
I understand your feelings. I was pretty good at parrying in the slower meta, but now, I also struggle with it. I choose to block everything I can, press the offense, and if I see a clear pattern, I attempt to parry preemptively, but I win entire duels without parrying a single time. Getting 4 succesful block out of 5 attempts is better than getting a parry out of 5 tries.
