    Production chains

    Hello

So I was looking around for production chains and found a pretty handy information on https://anno1800.fandom.com/wiki/Production_chains but the building ratios don't quite add up. For example on wiki's it will say build 2x Grain farm per mill, but in game tool tips state the grain farms produce 2 grain per minute, and flour mill takes 6 per 30 seconds (total of 12 per minute). Off the tool tips I should be able to build 6 grain farms per mill but when I had tried it, the grain storage was getting filled up. Is there another mechanic that I am missing or is one of these sources of information outdated and updates have happened meanwhile?

Are you sure you are checking for correct numbers in game tool tips? I've just loaded the game to double check on that and it is showing the correct numbers of 1 minute per ton for grain farm production and 30 seconds for flour mill. So the ratio is still 2:1 as stated on wiki. Do you use trade unions with items that might alter (speed up) production time?

Hey, as an admin of this wiki I can assure you that this page has correct ratios for all production chains. It is based on production times of all buildings.

The way production in the game works is that 1 ton of resource is transformed into 1 ton of goods during the production time specific for a factory. So the flour mill turns 1 grain into 1 flour during 30 seconds. The grain farm produces 1 grain in 1 minute so you need 2 grain farms per 1 flour mill to let the flour mill to work with 100% productivity.

Numbers you mention are probably taken from the interface of each building, and 6 grain in case of flour mill is how many tons of grain can be stored in the flour mill. So basically up to 6 tons of grain can be transported to a flour mill but only 1 ton of grain is used every 30 seconds.

I hope it makes everything more clear.

Hello I apologize about the confusion from lack of context.
I picked up this game last week. I am playing this in campaign mode (with sunken treasures). So far I've progressed to point of completing story in new world and unlocking bright sands (the burnt edition). Have engineers unlocked to boost production speed, but no electricity buildings yet. In the game I am checking via mousing over components of the production building itself. Tool tips seem to be limited to production cycle time only.
Here are the screenshots for what I am looking at:

Grain farm production cycle /processing time(1 minute): https://photos.app.goo.gl/AZnrjVWu4QeYXzNR9
Grain farm output amount (2 units of Grain): https://photos.app.goo.gl/gWtb7DNioaauJ9UW6

Flour Mill input (up to 6 units of Grain): https://photos.app.goo.gl/d8GKYeuTqF8au1a66
Flour Mill production cycle/processing time (30 seconds): https://photos.app.goo.gl/h7YhK4tCy4MjymqaA
Flour Mill output (4 units of flour): https://photos.app.goo.gl/jzTV1ky1TLY9bgrF9

Bakery input (4 units of flour): https://photos.app.goo.gl/jXB7yR3FiezZz2DTA
    Bakery production cycle/processing time (1 minute): https://photos.app.goo.gl/XefjCSWihNK7n1aYA
Bakery output (2 units of bread): https://photos.app.goo.gl/1VBskviDcWbMpPWo7

When I factor in these input/output units is where I am getting thrown off.

    Thanks banan1996.1996

After reading your post I looked at the carriages carrying stuff around. They seem to only carry 1 unit.

These numbers that you present as input or output are just numbers of tons that can be stored in the building. Every time the production time passes, only 1 ton of resources is transformed into 1 ton of the product. That's why tooltips have only production time, that's the only factor that matters.
