When you answer a call for backup and you get into a group, you become the "Shepherd". You get a blue bar underneath your experience bar in the top right of your screen. When this fills up from doing the activities, which can take a while depending on the level of the person you are helping, a message pops that you are eligible for endorsement. If the group leader is cooperative and if he knows about endorsing and shepherding, he will endorse you. That will give you another point towards a Shepherding level - that 7/10 will become 8/10. You can only get one endorsement per assist, so if you stay on, your blue bar will fill again, but you'll only gain an experience boost, so there's a decision you have to make. Hopefully, the session owner will work with you and give you the endorsement. If the group folds, or the session owner leaves, bye bye everything. You are back to square one.
Once that 7/10 gets to 10/10, you will get a Shepherd rank and receive a pair of wings next to your gamer tag. You can then proceed to rank up, only this time, you will need to do 5 shepherding events per level. You work towards a L25 rank for a commendation, and you have about 8 weeks left to do it before it resets. Lots of people in forums complaining about it. I think this was an in "beta" for us to test. So decide if it is worth your time to undertake, and good luck out there. Oh, and you can't shepherd friends or clan mates.
Hey thanks for explaining.Originally Posted by T3Feathers Go to original post
I've answered the call a load of times and been recommended for endorsement but never received it...I managed to get to 8/10 this morning.
But I'm pretty sure there's no way I'm going to get to level 25 in 8 weeks
I've taken to selecting the "sheep" I will assist by looking at the activity they are involved in. It tells you when you receive the call. I go to the map and cursor over to it and check by tabbing on the map to see what activity I am potentially joining. It gives me a better idea of how long it will take to get my xp. Once I join, and see what level I am working with, I message the session owner and tell them I will assist if they will endorse when prompted. If they do not respond, I play a little, then ask again. If they have no clue and are willing, then I explain and we proceed. If not and the vibe is off, then I cut my losses and move on. It still is a crap shoot, but sometimes you hit it right and sometimes, you get screwed. It's kinda like the RN Gesus in the game. Keep at it, and if you are on xbox one and want to hit me up when you see me, then great. It's easier to chat that text.
Because CP4 gives too low amount of Shepherd XP in order to get 100% and showing a endorse popup.Originally Posted by Jim_867_5309 Go to original post
The option to endorse pops once the people helping you reach the required XP. You get a brief prompt (usually in the middle of a fire fight or at the worst possible time) to endorse the players. I think you press up on the D pad (Xbox One) to endorse each player. If you miss it, you can go to the social tab on the inventory screen and select each player's tag, then endorse from there. I am pretty sure it shows an message like "endorsement pending". Sorry, I spend most of my time assisting, not being assisted.
I wanted to get the commendation for giving an endorsement and also pay it forward cause sheparding is about all there is to do nowadays if you don't raid or DZ. Had to do one CP4 and finally had the chance to give the endorsement when we just finished the 3rd side activity to level up a second on to CP4....total activities required to get to endorsement was a +2 Territory Control, 1 CP4, and 3 +1 side activities.Originally Posted by Jim_867_5309 Go to original post
If the shepard XP was static and based on activity done it would work better, as helping lower level players in missions you already done before on story mode rewards you with 0 XP, and enemies rewards pitiful amounts of XP such 0.11% so actually helping lower level players would require you spends so many hours to get the correct amount of xp that it wouldnt even be funny
