There is a saying in the video game industry. Basically, it goes like this :
What's better ?
a) To have something everyone appreciate
b) To have something half the players absolutely LOVE and half the players absolutely HATES
The answer is B and Ubisoft should cherish all the little unique things they put into their game that generates those very strong feelings in the player base.
And by that logic ... why the HELL did they remove the 4 pits at C in overwatch ... AFTER 2 WHOLE FRICKIN YEARS ?? What the hell, they just woke up after 2 years to streamline every zones to be the same little dueling area space ??
I HATED being ledge in that zone and I LOVED leding people in the zone. There isn't a single map out there with a zone PURELY designed for ledging. Yet, Ubisoft made it just. like. every. other. damn. zones.
Another dreadful change goes into For Honor. Dev are killing this game.
For Honor is being aimed towards Competitive Play these days. I figure they made that change to make it more fair and not have players be ledged and 'unfairly' killed while capping or dueling in a zone.
Still, I'm in the same boat as you where I hated being ledged, but was joyed to knock someone off too. And feeling bad afterwards. But still enjoyed it!
It's because they are bending the knee before noobs (excuse me) that blame the slightest thing for their loss. That's also the reason why they removed the gear stats.
Sh*t has to be perfectly balanced, mirrored and unified across the board. I better prefere some diversity over standardized map layout with only different visuals.
The "old" Overwatch maps was a bit edgy, but that kept it different and a good pick to change the pace.
Maybe it was done to balance the map rather than solely to please the plebs, if you hold C in that map you pretty much win, the A zone wasn't as important as C since C is so close to B, if you held C, you would have B as well.
Maybe it'll be a bit more balanced now that you can hold C and stall the point gain without being ledged every missed GB or running bash type moves.
