Is it forbidden/ILLEGAL to re-broadcast Warrior's Den on YouTube? Ubisoft Respond

Back in the days where Eric Pope and Damien Kieken are still in Warrior's Den, we livestream Warrior's Den faithfully every week, we stopped for while and got disinterested in the game, then Hulda came.

We have a tiny YouTube channel and we recently published 2 video re-cuts of Warrior's Den for the Jormungandr launch and the Twitch drops (now deleted) event to our fellow For Honor subscribers. Yesterday we were notified of a suspension and demonetization from YouTube due to copyrighted contents. Warrior's Den contents are the only recent ones we published that are not our bit recently, we want to promote Hulda's launch and For Honor's being Free on Epic games.

We are content creator startups promoting AAA games from various game devs and publishers, we are official partners and affiliates of at least 3 video game related entities, so far Ubisoft contents are the only one causing this trouble to us. In comparison, we shared many official trailers namely Star Wars: The Old Republic Cinematic Trailer and it is over 1.8 million views now, the recent CDPR's Cyberpunk 2077 have 100k views and others, they never gave us trouble.

The Warrior's Den re-cuts only have 273 views and got us suspended, our channel was squeaky clean so far besides the warning during the E3 event and again caused by Ubisoft's content. During E3, we also published E3 trailers and press conference from Bethesda, EA, PC Gaming Show, E3VR, Devolver Digital and Stadia but the time we covered Ubisoft's E3 show, our livestream was halted and the livestream function disabled for 2 weeks.

We have like 350 videos of AC Odyssey and about 100 of For Honor, 119 of AC Origins and other Ubi titles like The Division, The Crew series etc.. made from livestreams and gameplays. Once in a while Ubisoft releases trailers of what's coming and our subscribers need to see it so we showcase these trailers to them, unlike other YouTubers we don't do reaction videos, we find it too asinine and defeats the purpose of the dramatic experience of watching the trailer. We promote your games by reposting these things thus creating an audience, an audience who is likely to be ecstatic to watch these trailers.

We are building a community of gamers, please UBISOFT SUPPORT US at least give us permission to repost your trailers and content without getting suspended from YouTube, we can't even buy a coffee from these earnings. This is discouraging and driving us away.

My friend's theory: It might also been because YouTube ban/suspend accounts promoting Twitch?

    Hey sixburn,

I am sorry to hear you have been having issues with your YouTube channel due to copyright.

I am afraid that Support is not equipped to resolve these matters for you, but you can find more information on our stance on YouTube uploads here.

Thanks for the link Ubi-Swaggins, I will share this to my friends. We will no longer repost Ubisoft trailers, gameplay and contents.

Odd thing though we didn't receive a copyright strike from Ubisoft or anyone actually. My friend's theory might have been a factor too. During your Warrior's Den event, your hosts are telling us the Twitch Drops this week, good thing they were not affected because YouTube turns out is against this. Their ToS says "..If the main purpose of your content is to drive people off of YouTube and onto another site, it will likely violate our spam policies."

It must be that video about the Twitch Drops event in For Honor that we posted as a YouTube video. According to an article in Polygon last year, it turns out 3 big channels were terminated/suspended because of this same thing.

    Hey sixburn,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I would not be able to comment on other cases of this, as we do not have visibility on these particular claims.

I would advise contacting YouTube if the strike was not from us or anyone else to get further information.

    Hi Ubi-Swaggins,

How's the gaming last week? I have to find and go back to this post, because we laughed so hard while watching the opening of Gamescom, dude Ubisoft copyright-striked Geoff Keighley's channel, the Game f***ing Awards?!! Now we realized it is not YouTube after all, Ubisoft has a thing for copyright strikes. It is you guys, Ubisoft really forbid the **** out of the gaming community this time, you guys must really hate reposting your trailers. I am sure it is a mistake but no other game devs have that issue in that show.

Would it be best if we shift to other games and stay away from yours to avoid further slip ups? I read at least 3 other YouTube channels on reddit are facing the same ban and suspensions. This is really a ****ty way to find out that gamers and content creators are being sort of sabotaged by Ubisoft. Ok, sabotage is a strong word, but you know what I mean. And we thought EA, Activision are bad. And the thing is, those channels were also demonetized, it means that other guy was banned for 3 months, others have to re-apply for monetization. They lost money, like us though ours are small amount compared to those YouTubers, that is how they earn for a living ffs. That was a serious injury, I doubt they would be promoting Ubisoft titles anytime soon.

We can't wait for the next Game Awards. I hope Ubisoft win something I am sure Geoff is not a vindictive guy. And the memes out of that incident.

    Sincerely,
    AC gamers, long time fans
