I Like It.
I Don't Like It.
So my vote is that I don’t like tiered loot.
That’s a generalisation, so I want to clarify. I don’t like tiered loot systems that cause the sole focus of the game to become trying to gain a better version of something you already have. I don’t yet know enough about the tiered loot system in BP to say if it will be bad.
My hope is it will be a low impact system.
My feelings on it are the same as Hugo. ....at least in games like these. It's fine in something like the Division but I don't want that same experience in what is supposed to be more military, tactical shooters.
While it needed improvement, GRW did a better job overall IMO. I just think they took GRB in the wrong direction instead of focusing on the aspects that made GRW good. .....and I feel more strongly about this ever since last weekend. I hope the beta changes my mind assuming I am able to play it (I refuse to preorder before I can see more).
I don't mind looting in games, but the system they have is not good. I like picking up new and cool guns. Even bad guns were fun to get in Wildlands. Picking up multiple of the same gun or gear were there is no difference except the score is not fun at all. Its boring and dull. The first G36 was cool to get, the 3rd was just "oh another one"

We agree on a lot although it seems his tolerance for some of the more contentious aspects of the game is higher than mine.Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
I haven't been hands on with Breakpoint, but after 600 hours with Div2 and the HORRIBLE loot grind in that game, I can say I'm not thrilled at the idea of ANY loot system in Ghost Recon.
This franchise was my go-to military game on xbox, but it's looking like Call of Duty will be taking that place (which I can't believe I'm saying).
Did you catch any of the MP reveal livestream? Can't say I was impressed with the core playstyle MW will continue to represent as it is still a run & gun game in PvP, but the hardcore mode did look enticing and I really dig their gunsmith. As one of the developers said in the livestream, they made the guns in this one the main characters vs. all the other stuff. ....and with up to 60 accessories/options and completely revamped physics/characteristics, etc., I'd say that is a step in the right direction.Originally Posted by friday_mortimer Go to original post
Their co-op also looks to be one that is much more robust than previous titles. ...so for me, it's the Spec Ops (co-op) and Realism TDM (hardcore) that will get my attention depending on how they are implemented, map options, etc.
Btw, along with offering other options like hardcore (something Ubi will likely still resist in the new GW like they did in the old), they will also have game modes that involve 2v2, 6v6, 10v10, 20v20 and more than 100 players. ....oh yeah, and crossplay.
Again, I'm not a fan of the core playstyle (run & gun) but if you look beyond that, I think there is at least something to be said about some of the components and the choice of play styles they offer their customers. I sure hope Ubi takes notice and most of all, take advantage of this opportunity to bring a product to the masses that essentially no one else has at the moment. They nearly had that in GRW and could have really nailed it down in GRB if they simply concentrated on improving those things that made Wildlands great.
IMO, Ubi may still do ok with GRB but I have a feeling this new CoD may end up stealing a portion of their thunder given the options and direction IW have taken in this new iteration of the franchise. I guess I'll see given CoD will have an open beta for everyone this September and I guess if I'm "lucky" (since I didn't preorder GRB), I will be given an invitation so I can try out Ubi's beta as well.
Well put.Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
Tiered loot is completely unnecessary and quite frankly has no place in a GR. If the tiered loot is going to be invasive (forcing hours of grinding and praying to RNGesus for weapons/gear with good stat rolls) then it will be incredibly irritating for me personally as I *hate* the looter shooter sub-genre. If it’s not invasive and doesn’t impact moment-to-moment gameplay...then why include it at all other than to have it as a “feature” checked off on the back of the box?
It’s a lose-lose situation as far as I’m concerned.
