The firefly is fine, as its not really an early unit. If you can make it with British to the late game, then an AVRE and firefly advance pretty kills anything.Originally posted by irelandeb:
They need to drop the price of the Matilda annd Cromwell to 20. 25 is too much. Same with the firefly.
The problem is that they don't really have any great spammable early light units. There is paras and Hurricanes, but they are soon overwhelmed because the enemy can out spam light units. They need a cheap light tank (or the price of the cruiser reduced), and also AC MK1 seems to have a lower range than many recons, which is a problem against 88mm. The other problem with the British is that all ground units seem to have a very slow production rate.
As a high ranking UK player (1v1) i feel i can comment on this quite well.
In the current game state there really is NO point going lancasters, bombers should be used to haress NOT as you main force, you cant go mainly air now with the AA buff.
In regards to the Cromwell, its way too expensive and just not worth the cost, it should have its research cost dropped to 35 imo. In the 200 or so beta/demo games i have played i have yet to build a single one. They are just not worth it.
The prototype base is NOT viable in a 1v1, it costs too much and i would prefer to have a mixture of units instead of the proto.
Seeing that i have a win rate of about 95% i know what im talking about![]()
OK well I dont play British that often, but I have problems countering an enemy strat when I play as them.Originally posted by markGSI:

If you are playing against Germans or Italains, and they do an Infantry, Assault gun, Recon, 88mm and flak rush - how do you counter? (Presuming you don't get their first 88mm, or kill some of their engineer trucks) I have major problem countering this, because once the enemy gets a couple of 88mm and some flaks your air and armour is more or less stopped. It only takes them a couple of minutes for a good opponent to do this, because all the units mentioned are available from 2 bases.
I realise that flaks and 88mm are light units, but the only counter is artillery, and they can produce assault guns to counter, while you can't actually see the 88mm, because you cant get recon close enough.
The problem is that they can have all these units and be outside your base within 5 minutes. Fireflys take 2 researches (costing time and money) - the 88 will kill them anyway, while the assault guns moving up will take out the artillery pretty fast, and theres also infantry overwhelming you.
I have beaten some players that have attempted it, but when testing it repeatedly against a good player (and knowing what to expect) it couldn't be stopped. Sometimes I got close to pushing it back (with artillery as you say, costing $25 a time, plus base at $40!!!), but eventually the lack of map control means they out produce you, and the assault guns (and by this time tanks) destroy the artillery.
I agree that the cromwell price might be debatable seeing as the italians get the same tank with -1 armor and more speed for $15. The Matilda is really just useless :\. The firefly WAS fine as is, but now with the research cost up at $75 I think it should cost 20.Originally posted by irelandeb:

And which better units do the British have? Some good air units, the AVRE, and the firefly. All expensive in research, bases and production time. I mentioned earlier that if you survive to late game, then the British are OK, but early game when rushed, you're screwed.Originally posted by FreightTrain4:
When were the british Useful
Just kidding but you need to keep them suppressed
just harass them until you can destroy them with your better units
