Shield skill feels better but still needs improvement

I love all the changes to skills. Before TU5 I was already prepping my skill builds. Been testing them out and was really excited to test out my shield build. In the Division 1 I loved the Shield builds. D3FNC was my favorite and even before that I had a nice skillpower shield build. But the Shield was very weak when Division 2 launched. I can Definitely say it feels "a lot better" now. But with that said I still feel the Shield could use some tweaks. I'm running about 2500 skillpower (can get higher but have my build set up a certain way) and have some very good health mods on my shield. my base shield (not the other 2 variants) can get over 1 million health. Again, I can improve over time but lets continue. I run chem launcher with good heals that heal me and the shield. The problem isn't with the shield health, it's my Agent taking damage. Even when I use the base shield (which covers your whole body unlike the other 2 shield variants) my agent still takes a lot of damage. I cannot remember off the top of my head but in the Division 1, I believe there was some type of resilience your agent would get with the shield. Again don't quote me on that because it's been a while since I've been on Div 1. But nonetheless, I believe there should be some type of damage resilience for your Agent. Whether via a mod or otherwise. But that's just my two cents.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

You mean that damage resistance buff you got after your shield absorbed a certain threshold of weapon damage?

At first I was thinking that you were just getting shot from exposed angles, but what you speak of sounds like the resistance buff. That was because of D3 itself, not the shield.

Well, if we're talking another change to shields, what they could REALLY use is being able to go in and out of cover without "equpping". That would make a world of difference.

But ya, skills could still use some QoL tweaks. Not just the shield (jammer).

Yes I believe you nailed it. It was the resistance buff that D3 provided. I guess that's the best example of what I'm trying to explain. I would love to see some new mods etc. that give a similar resistance buff.

I totally agree. The skills are in a much better place but some could still use some quality of life tweaks indeed. I would love to see some of the more manual skills get the option to have them work automatic or manual. A lot of skills I personally don't use just because of the manual targeting. Just kinda clunky in the heat of battle. But again, that's just my opinion.

I use the shield / defender drone for the periods of higher damage. True Patriots blue slots gives it 900k hp and self heal / defender drone CD reduction. There are some definate times where it still just melts though and some DR would be pretty nice.

I threw on the deflector shield last night and ran a few challenging missions had two aux batt and a 60% health mod and AI didnt drop the shield once, run in combo with dodge city holster there is a lot of potential for a shield build here

I really like the shield build examples you guys have shared. They sound pretty awesome! But yes I would just like a little damage resilience because let's face it, the NPCs hit very hard especially on higher difficulty. And unfortunately even the base shield can't protect you at all angles. But again I really like the builds you have shared and nonetheless I still enjoy running my shield build. Just hoping they will continue to make all skills even better!

Yes skill are better now but for the shield why he dont take aggro like in D1 ?
300% aggro and the ventilation flap that increases and decreases aggro%, real tank system like in D1

Agreed. Never played 1, but I've always thought a proper aggro system would help build archetypes.

As of now, my friend who tanks just, "goes in first".
