There's not a lot of info to go on there, so i wont give you any build advice. You're obviously knowledgable, so what i'll tell you i'm sure you'll do fine with.
First and foremost, on kill talents are very hit or miss in pvp. In pve they're fantastic, but in pvp they give you a situational asset. If you have some buddies that play well together, they can be okay, but I prefer talents that are always up.
If you are going to go in solo, then it is so much more reliable to wait and pick off kills instead of trying to fight in the open. For instance, in my circle we use one of us as bait sometimes, and it works fantastic. Human players get tunnel vision and blood lust very easily and it's worth sacrificing someone for a 2v3 or 3v4 when they will be facing us at 100% and they will be fighting at 50% health all because we got the drop and the bait got off a suicide made or something. Relate that to solo play as you will. I never go in solo, but I have been owned hard by talented solo players that use that seem to play with that mentality.
Speaking of getting the drop, if someone gets in on you with a good shotty build, depending on what skills you're running and how your build is comprised, you might have lost. However, if you use a really well built defender drone or are coming off of a heavy stim efficient booster hive, you can reposition for an advantage sometimes. Overall, it's better to get the drop on other players though. Game sense and map awareness are just as important as build optimization.
I'm not the best pvper in this game, and playing solo isn't my forte, but this is the mentality we use when we can get together and we always have a fruitful harvest from the DZ.
Also, I play on ps4 so there are things about playing on that platform that do not necessarily transfer to PC very well and vise versa.
I'm sorry if all this is too general, but im not sure exactly what to answer. These are just the things we have told friends that are either new, or struggling in the dz.
