It's been 4 damn years with little attention to Castle and his barriers.
They've done very little to make him a decent Op and he's still sitting very very low in the win Delta and pick rates.
I just felt like addressing this because we've gotten another pay skin for an op nobody really likes or uses that Ubi forgot.He really needs a major barrier buff especially with new ops and abilities can counter anything.
One such proposal of mine would be to make his barriers melee proof and require 2 explosives charges to destroy. This would be a massive buff to Castle and would put him in just the right range of a gadgets balance as most all ops with breaching devices have 2 or more.
It would also incentivize attacking ops with these charges or gadgets to stay alive rather than running in guns blazing.
Thoughts ?
I mentioned something similar to this a while back. It should take any two soft breaching tools to completely destroy it but could only take one breaching charge to destroy since breaching charges are barely used. That would get their pick rate up. After the first soft breaching tool is used to damage but not destroy the barricade there should be cracks in the barricade that you can shoot through. The barricade should also be made metal so that Kaid and Bandit can electrify it which would help to prevent drones from going under. Something definitely needs to be done about the amount of melee hits it takes to destroy. Either make it melee proof or something absurd like 30 melee hits.
Maybe Castle could have different options for his barricades instead of only Amor Panels? For example; metal chains, metal bars, bulletproof glass etc.
Edit. Or he could have castle-like defences such as a portcullis which can be operated by teammates.
Castle is one of the ops that have been overtly charged with being under powered. But if you look through the years of forum threads there have been plenty of threads that have discussed his gadget and where it gets to be OP if he gets buffed.
The thing is, he has late game power.
Throughout the years is has been explained why he can get way OP with even the minor buffs suggested. The only real suggestion that has passed mustard is him being able to deploy over existing barricades. I think that would put him in a better position in an already good position that he has currently.
You cant block the door or you wont be able to see Fuse launching. You cant electify his panels because you risk the attackers blowing two gads at once with even a secondary frag (or creating a better use for Ash).
Nah..he's in an 'ok' state, but he could use some passive uses like mentioned above..
