    Using SHOTGUN is pointless now

In PvE, sustain damage is still the best option in higher difficulty. Headshot NPCs while safely behind a cover is the way, doesn't matter how much damage boost u put on shotty, it won't change that...

In PvP, where it used to shine, even though things like ACS-12 got a base damage buff, in general the best you can do is the same DPS as a LMG or Eagle Bearer, that is in CLOSE RANGE, so close u could give your opponet a hug...Thanks to the overall modifier buff, it's way harder to get close now. Also, for some reason shotgun seems to be extra inefficient in burning defender drone. Don't know what's that is all about, it seems, instead of taking a certain amount of damage, the drone burn faster if more bullets hit, meaning RPM is the only thing matters, that doesn't sound fair does it...

Shotgun has a peak and shoot ability that is unmatched by any gun type (besides snipers with short rail sights).

With a shotgun, you can stay in cover for a longer period during a fight and limit your overall exposure. With a proper bottleneck on this attack time and mobility between proper cover- shotguns tactics are great.

My double barrel went from 71k ish damage to 99,1k in normalized, so it actually got buffed, not nerfed as per the pvp modifier that where supposed to go from 1,65 to 1,0.
I wounder how long it will take the developers to figure out that my double barrel should be doing around 58k according to the tu5 patch notes.

Regarding its harder to get in range i would say thats working as intended since that is your weakness.
Stacking armor and unbreakable with shotgun in tu4 you could pretty much ignore damage and more or less the only reason you didnt get a kill with double barrel was if you ****ed up.

If you read the notes thoroughly they did drop the shotgun modifier, but raised the pvp modifier. That's why shotguns show more damage but they don't hit players as hard as they used to.

Yeah that's not how it works, what the damage say in your character sheet while in normalized is what it hits players for body shots pretty much.
And no they didn't actually do it, its in the patch notes but if you do the math on it, that's the only place it is ie in the patch notes not in the actual game.

What they did do is keep the 1.65 modifier and changed the general pvp modifier from 0.4 to 0.55 im convinced it wasn't by purpose hence they even said on sotg that shotguns where fixed ie they blindly trusted the patch notes without double checking.

That may be true, I tried testing it out and right now it's honestly hard to tell if the shotgun modifier is still there. My shotgun build freakin hurts stuff. Although earlier I did two shot a guy in the back with my 870 and premeditated was NOT active. But he was a skill user so who knows.

well they are definetly better than before, honestly just switching the melee bonus for something else and i would say they are in a good place, because i can say that they are confortable to use in close ranges now, but i feel like they are not exactly a to-go choice for close range yet

I like the sweet dreams in pve. I don't pvp, though.

If you guys get a decent rolled sasg you should try it. They're actually not bad now. I can't decide whether to use that or my 870. Both have pros and cons.
