I reviewed the 1C forums to gleen some info. However, for every one informative post there is at least 2 pages of whinning and complaints etc. Can we start a thread limited to real information ? Do we know how big the map will be? will it include Moscow proper ? What is the flyable planeset ? Neither side really had that many aircraft availible for the " battle for Moscow ". Will the map cover a " Barbarosa" scenario?

There has been little or no information released on the Battle for Moscow. We first heard of it during a Gaming Expo in Moscow, when they where doing an advanced showing of Cliff of Dover.

Because Maddox Games were still all hands on deck working on COD, I assumed then that the Battle for Moscow was a third party development, building the necessary aircraft, objects, and Moscow area map. Even if it were a third party development Maddox Games would have to use many of its personal to integrate BfM into the new IL-2 engine. Its all guess work at this time, but since they are now calling BfM the sequel to COD, we have to assume its an inhouse development.

We know it's got an Il-2 (not sure which type) and an La-5, although it didn't take part in the defence of Moscow as I understand it. Not much else that I can recall though.

Afaik the La-5 was only a educated guess, deducted from a partial 3d-model of a cowling.

I agree, BUT, there is a huge elephant in the room. MONEY. COD was forced out the door before it was ready because no one was willing to keep funding the project. Unfortunately they weren't able to fix COD in eight months, and need another injection of cash sooner than later. The release of the sequel which has been in the works for atleast a year will fill that need.

This shouldn't effect COD to much as the work being done on the game engine, like AI, FM, DM, Triggers, Graphics and Weather etc will still apply to COD and any new sequel.

Hopefully they still have someone improving the COD campaign, but if not the community will be churning out campaigns for COD for years.

A post I read regarding the La-5 , mentioned a Battle of Stalingrad add-on that this aircraft would be released in.That is either very forward thinking or overly optimistic.

That does sound optimistic... although once you have the necessary plane set for Moscow... Stalingrad would be mostly the same with a couple of later variants of the same aircraft. It's not a huge amount to model a Bf109G-2 out of a F-4. Or turn a Yak-7A into a Yak-7B with both engine options.
