You could do it in certain areas in future soldier as well. It would be a pretty fantastic feature that would significantly improve mobility options over extreme terrain, be it mountains, urban, etc.

This should be present in every game. Why would fiction be less than real life?

Some really good suggestions in this thread.

However.......................I don't think any of you have shifted your paradigms enough to come up with any REALLY creative solutions to the age old Spec Ops problem of easily accessing object/platforms that are above the Operators head and/or reach.

Moon shoes. That's the ticket--------------and they look as cool as they are too! Make'em out of carbon fiber and titanium and they'd add hardly any weight to your kit! Need I say; bunny hopping in PvP would be AWESOME!!!
