Really! What a ..... Ok, now we can exclude that. What can we try next? Do you think it could be bugged?

My next guess is to drop an attribute from a gold weapon onto an even lower level weapon? I have no real clue at this point.

I have a second character on level 20. I could try to switch an attribute to a weapon in my inventory with level 18 or something like that. As soon as I can find out something, i'll be back.

So I noticed they changed the description for the Calibration Award after the title update. It now says "Calibrate a weapon and increase its recalibration score to 100"
so it wasn't 100 damage, it was a typo.

I would argue that it was a typo as the commendation has been around since day 1 but “recalibration score” is a fairly recent *addition*.

I also have this commemoration completed and I have absolutely no idea how it happened. I found out one day when going through my commendations. This thread got me thinking that perhaps it was when I upgraded one of my exotics but then thought that wouldn’t be it as that is crafting and not recalibration. That said I could be wrong and it could in fact be what triggers the commendation, it might be worth a look by one that hasn’t got the commendation yet <crosses fingers>

It was not only a typing error, but also a bug. The bug fix is mentioned in the patch notes. This morning, I've done exactly the same as i did already a few days ago, I transferred the headshot damage of a level 26 sniper rifle to one with level 22 and immediately got the commendation. It is actually fixed.

Hmm, I thought you didn't unlock the Recalibration Station until level 30. I guess I'll have to fire up my alt character then in order to finally get this.

I was level 23 when I got the recal station. But it is not necessary to create a new character, I think. It should also work now to roll the headshot damage of an orange sniper to a purple one. It's worth a try.

It doesn't work; it only puts the recalibration score to 75.

Sorry to hear that. Only 75%. That's unfortunate. When I rerolled from 26 to 22, it was over the cap. This stupid, grey, 10-points commendations makes a lot of trouble. Rerolling the melee damage of a shot gun should also work, but the problem how you can reach 100% stays the same. Maybe it works with a WT5 weapon and a WT4 weapon. But how to get a weapon with a WT4 Gear Score? I hope you will find a solution that does not require creating a new character.
