[PLEA] PLEASE, replace some of the icons/names of zoo animals for a correct ones!!

As a zoologist by education I just can't get past it without a comment.

    First, some minor stuff.
There are no such things as "Dog Fox" and "Lake Orangutan"

Now, there are more serious bloopers:
Instead of paradise bird you have some blue parrot (Hyacinth macaw maybe?)
For sperm whale you have a picture of supposedly a whale shark (it has gills, for crying out loud, and any educated person knows that whales are mammals!).

But one thing that hurts my eyes the most is what you have as a "Condor":
When I acquired Spectacled bear I realized I might have all three animals for the "Cordillera" set and started to browse my inventory to find the Alpaca that I had for sure and to see whether I've got the Condor, but I couldn't find it. Only when I clicked on the icon of one of the birds of prey I had I suddenly saw the name "Condor". This is your picture of condor:

Is this suppose to be Andean condor from South America?? I'm sorry, but this is not an Andean condor, it looks nothing like the condor. This is some old world vulture, probably Griffon vulture.

This is how real Andean condor looks like:

It is black with snow-white collar and bold red or black head with a big comb on top of it, and it doesn't look like your icon at ALL.
In my opinion, it is a crime to place a wrong picture for this majestic bird (largest flying bird in the world, BTW) with such a unique and recognizable appearance...

Here, I even found you a free sketch on Deviant Art:

Just please, please, replace the icon!..

P.S. Here, I even made one for you, more or less similar in format and style to ones used in the game:

Please, use it if you find it suitable.

P.P.S. I made another Condor icon (from another free image). It's less pretty, but I think it scales down better:

I didn`t know for this. Now with this knowledge we all are screweed up totally... This could pass unnoticed, but Yea, there is always some compulsive wacko to destroy joy of imagination. ... Therefore... replace that icon or we will go completely pissed...

I'm really sorry for destroying your joy of imagination... Of course, it was me, a compulsive wacko, and not your lack of knowledge, which allowed you to imagine things in a way that the pictures in you mind had nothing in common with real things existing in the real world...

What about my "joy" of imagining my citizens coming to a zoo I build for them to see a magnificent condor from across the globe to find out it's just a common vulture?

I made a second condor icon, so you can choose from 2 images if you decide to correct the mistake and indeed replace condor's icon with the upcoming update (which I really hope you do ):

I made some disturbing discoveries... Apparently whoever from the developers team which created those icons knew very well the correct names of all these animals...
I explored the data files of the game and found all icons in question. The names of every one of the files themselves are exact scientific names of the animals depicted in each one of them, unlike what we see in the game...

And I didn't even had to unpack game data files - Anno 1800 Wiki page (from where I originally took the icons) apparently preserved the original icon's names (you can see them in address lines):

    "Lake Orangutan" - icon_bornean_orangutan_0.dds

    "Dog Fox" - icon_blanfords_fox_0.dds

    "Sperm whale" - icon_sharkwhale_0.dds

    "Condor" - icon_vulture_ver2_0.dds

("Bird of paradise" icon with imaginary blue parrot in it is the only exception - the icon file is also called "icon_bird_of_paradise_0.dds")

I can understand the logic under renaming Bornean orangutan and Blanford's fox - there is no island of Borneo and was no zoologist Blanford in Anno's fictional universe...

But for the life of me I can't get WHY you KNOWINGLY chose the wrong pictures/3D models for the sperm whale and the condor???...

Do you consider your customers uneducated and narrow-minded?.. Or was it an experiment to see if anyone will point it out?..

OK, "if they won't do it for you, do it by yourself".

Now I'm working on Sperm whale and Bird of paradise icons, once I finished I will make it available for everyone who's interested on Reddit and nexusmods.

    OK, it is done!

Anyone who's also not very happy about some of the animal images in the game is welcome to visit r/anno on Reddit and search for "Correct Animal Icons" (I don't think I can give you the actual link due to Ubi's policy regarding making changes to the game).

And now it also includes 3D models of the animals and corrects more gaffes, like the Okapi icon representing Extinct Species set:

As a bonus, unique icon and skin for Mathilde the Parrot:

(the last one was surprisingly challenging thing to make, that's why the update took so long)

You're welcome to visit r/anno on Reddit and search for "Animals 2.0".
