Hello Far Cry fans
So I just finished playing Far Cry 5 and New Dawn not long ago, still one of my favorite franchises.
But, after I did, I just had an urge to revisit one of the most fun things that a game in this franchise allowed me to do:
In Far Cry 4, the modding support was phenomenal, and after a lot of trial and error I figured a lot of things out.
Next to that Far cry 4 had an amazing map editor that opened up so many things and I just wanna share what I ended up making:
Using retexturing, editing graphic kits, AI personalities, behaviors, inventory packs, entityarchetypes and so much more, I created a new faction (As you might know we had rebels, royal army, royal guard), I called them The Shadow Guard, just because of my young self's creativity I guess and I needed to name my mod files somehow
So I guess my idea was that they were some kind of super elite members of the royal guard turned rogue, they would wear black and blue, I armed them to the teeth and programmed them to be very accurate and skilled.
Next thing, I created maps that resembled an assault scenerio or something similar and put these guys up against the other factions and watch them fight, most of the time it was just 4 Shadow Guards vs waves of about 100 enemies from the other factions, and my guys always won of course. It was super cool, because of the wave stuff in the map editor I was able to create air support that would come rushing when backup is needed and things like that, all of this was just so much fun, I had the time of my life.
Far Cry 5's map editor is really nice and I really thought I could do something like this in FC5 as well, but the modding support was unfortunately terrible and I did not get far.
Anyways, here are some screenshots from my Far Cry 4 modding adventure, just a random thing I thought I'd throw out there cause this is something probably I am crazy enough to do in this world

Dude this looks god damn amazing....!
How in the hell did you do this? Far Cry since Far Cry 2 have always been very unfriendly with modding due to lack of proper tools and encrypted files.
Fellow modders along with myself on the Far Cry Modding Discord would love to speak to someone with your skills. It would help modding for us A LOT if you join.
Can you show more please? Far Cry modding needs someone with your skills and it needs to be seen!
Problem with those mods is that they need to be installed for players to enjoy the maps. When you publish a map that uses the mod, the map will crash the game for anyone that doesn't have the mod installed.
Sadly, the EasyAntiCheat that's in place doesn't allow starting Arcade mode with modded patch datfiles, and getting a mod installed, let alone circumventing EAC is too much trouble for most players.
Custom AI in Far Cry 5 IS possible though :
