Hi all,
In honor of AC Symphony premiering this week, we'd like you to share your thoughts and memories about the musical journeys of Assassin's Creed over the years.
MAKING SURE THE FANS ARE HEARD
As part of a set of new Community Initiatives, we'd like to give opportunities to the community to give more direct feedback, and will now host weekly discussion on specific topics that relate the Assassin's Creed Franchise. These community discussions will take place on the AC subreddit, the Official Ubisoft Forums, and on the Mentors Guild Twitter. These discussions will be open for 1 week. The threads and responses will be shared directly with the Assassin's Creed Community Development team, who will then pass that info on to concerned parties within Ubisoft itself.
While the Mentors get opportunities to speak directly with the creators of Assassin’s Creed and frequently communicate with the Community Development Team, this is not the case for every fan. We want to change that. We want fans to have their voices heard directly, in the same ways the Mentors do. These activities are a step towards meeting this goal. If you want Ubisoft to see what you have to say, this is the place to do it.
THIS WEEK'S TOPIC
Topic: The Music of Assassin's Creed
Info: The music of Assassin's Creed has been instrumental (no pun intended) in shaping the immersive historical atmosphere the series is known for. The track "Ezio's Family" from AC2 has morphed into the series' signature theme, and subsequent games have often put their own twist on it by adapting it for many different historical eras and styles. This week kicks off a world-wide concert tour, AC Symphony, which will give fans the chance to experience many of their favorite tracks live. To mark the occasion, we want to hear about what the series' music means to you.
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
-What is your favorite AC soundtrack?
-What is your LEAST favorite AC soundtrack?
-What are your top 5 favorite tracks?
-Who is/are your favorite composer(s) who have worked on AC?
-If you could choose any composer in the world for the next AC, who would you pick?
-How do you feel about "Ezio's Family" being the series' theme music? Do you enjoy the continuity or would you prefer each game to have its own unique theme?
-Are you planning to attend AC Symphony?
As always, please feel free to add any thoughts you might have that are not covered by these example questions!
REMEMBER:
While these discussions are meant to allow for honest and raw feedback directly from the community, the best way to ensure your voice is heard is to be constructive - be critical of the process, not the people. Be specific with your criticisms and suggest tangible solutions and improvements.
We hope to see active participation and that this will be a successful way of getting the fans' voices truly heard.
I'm sorry, I really would like to answer these questions but there's no way I can tell how the tracks are named?
I could listen to them on Spotify but I'm not registered there and don't want to. Are all the tracks downloadable to the game directory?
I can only add this right now:
-What is your favorite AC soundtrack?
I think it's the theme played when you meet Ardos on Messara. This music is...I don't know... just so very relaxing but also poetic at the same time. It underlines the minotaur quest extremely well. Maybe there's an aura of time, solitude and faith surrounding it? It's calm but still it calls for something more within the tunes.
(The Messara Plain or Gortyn?)
I won't be attending! The nearest venue is in London.
We are 1 month away from the start of the 'Edinburgh Festival'. The worlds largest Arts Festival! The performance would be enjoyed by more than the AC or gaming community, but the masses of art lovers that swarm the Scottish capital every August, if they had decided to put on a performance there. But if the orchestra are at a loose end next summer, they could preview the music for the next AC game with unseen game footage on screens at the 'Edinburgh Festival' in 2020. I'd definitely be there on multiple nights!
I don't have a favourite soundtrack, because the more AC games I play, my favourite game may change & therefor I will spend a longer time playing to the rhythm of new sounds. So that's pretty fluid. However, sometimes you just need to start up an older game & the music just pulls you in!
Love the Ezio theme & how it can be adapted for a different game/location/culture.
Shanties are great, & the old folk songs performed in the taverns as well as the Spanish songs in Havana & various islands! In fact some of the incidental music along with acoustics of environment & the blazing sun, really make me feel I'm there!
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
-What is your favorite AC soundtrack?
Odyssey, followed by Origins.
-What is your LEAST favorite AC soundtrack?
I cannot think of any theme
-What are your top 5 favorite tracks?
Atlantis theme
Spartan fight
Ezio family
Origins' main theme
Desert theme in Origins (unknown title)
-Who is/are your favorite composer(s) who have worked on AC?
Sarah Schachner
-If you could choose any composer in the world for the next AC, who would you pick?
The one who wrote Odyssey!
-How do you feel about "Ezio's Family" being the series' theme music? Do you enjoy the continuity or would you prefer each game to have its own unique theme?
I like the Ezio family theme very much. It is like a trademark so it should stay in future games.
-Are you planning to attend AC Symphony?
No, but I would love to attend one.
I honestly have no opinion on the subject, but I will simply say this: the music that plays during the menu/title screen for Black Flag STILL gets stuck in my head, and I haven't played that game in years. Outta nowhere I'll find myself randomly humming that tune. Maybe to that effect that song is my favorite, 'cause it sure has stuck with me.
Very good discussion idea the soundtrack is one of the best things of the series. Nearly every game has such an unique and amazing soundtrack that give you the atmosphere of the time period where you playing
-What is your favorite AC soundtrack?
Assassins Creed II. Jesper Kyd did a really good job with these. Every thing in this soundtrack fits perfect, The Ambient music, Mission music and cutscene music. Future Game Soundtrack often lacks in at least in on of those things.
-What is your LEAST favorite AC soundtrack?
I love every Soundtrack of the Series but if I most choose between my least I would take Assassins Creed III. It was not bad but a huge letdown that the remove Jesper as composer. My problem with ACIII soundtrack is that it had really good fight music like Battle in the Frontier or Boston Tea Party but the rest was so forgettable and quiet. I was very disappointed that when I walked across the world no tracks played.
-What are your top 5 favorite tracks?
1. Access the Animus (Assassins Creed 1)
This track united a great escape, mystery and fight theme in one. The mix between classic and electronic instruments in this track is incredible and for me this track alone shows for what the entire Series stand for.
2. Tour of Venice (Assassins Creed II)
One of the best Town Soundtracks I ever hear in a Game. The Singing in this track is so beautiful and gives you a great feeling while you walking trough the streets of Venice.
3. Sanctuary (Assassins Creed II)
This Track is pretty good as well and emotional. It let me really miss that in the last Assassins Creed Games we have no current ambient music that plays so often as the ones in the Ezio Trilogy
Villa Under Attack (Assassins Creed Brotherhood)
This Track is so powerful and tragic at the same time. You can really feel with Ezio and know that monteriggioni is lost but you keep up fighting...
5. A Divided Land (Assassins Creed Origins)
I love it when this track playing while you synch a viewpoint. It really fits the feeling of an endless land in a desert where you can explore everything perfect. And it will always remembers me about shadya
-Who is/are your favorite composer(s) who have worked on AC?
Jesper Kyd. He really fits the entire Theme and Atmosphere Assassins Creed have perfect. Its so great how he had used classic and electric instruments in his tracks. The new composers made good tracks too but never came close to Jespers Style of composing. He should definitely return!![]()
The Series even use his Track Ezios Family as Main theme
-If you could choose any composer in the world for the next AC, who would you pick?
Jesper Kyd![]()
But if I could choose some other I would take Jeremy Soul who composed the Soundtrack from most entries of the Elder Scrolls Series. He really knows to make good ambient music and I would be very excited to hear tracks from him in Assassins Creed.
-How do you feel about "Ezio's Family" being the series' theme music? Do you enjoy the continuity or would you prefer each game to have its own unique theme?
I love it. Ezio theme is one of the best tracks in the series and I always love to hear it.
I would like to hear more themes that play trough multiple games like the hideout music in AC1, AC2 and Brotherhood.
-Are you planning to attend AC Symphony?
Of course. AC Symphony is a great Idea and a very nice gesture from Ubisoft for the fanes who love the soundtrack of the series.
At the End I want to tank every Composer for making such good soundtracks for the series, it really expands the experience of playing trough the games.
-What is your favorite AC soundtrack?
Brotherhood and Revelations
-What is your LEAST favorite AC soundtrack?
ACIII - there was a serious lack of music that made the game feel dead.
-What are your top 5 favorite tracks?
I have no clue what the names are, the main title track is very good and I especially love the music that's used at fast travel/synch points.
-Who is/are your favorite composer(s) who have worked on AC?
Jesper Kyd is all I know
-If you could choose any composer in the world for the next AC, who would you pick?
N/A
-How do you feel about "Ezio's Family" being the series' theme music? Do you enjoy the continuity or would you prefer each game to have its own unique theme?
It was never a favorite song for me but think it's fine - the problem is that the way it's used becomes too repetitious through the menu.
-Are you planning to attend AC Symphony?
Unfortunately No - but they are amazing and I loved the opening music they did at E3 .
Ambient music is a must for Assassin's Creed imo. It brings life into the game. I hope Ubi always focus's on music for this series.

Sarah and The Flight have more than won me over, but it would be cool to see Kyd return for a game as well.
I think the series needed some musical cohesion, and while that maybe wasn't the original intent of Ezio's family, I'd say it's done its job of helping unite the games musically.-How do you feel about "Ezio's Family" being the series' theme music?
