It's been a long time since I last edited the original post. I would consistently update it from new replies but I stopped doing that.Originally Posted by SofaJockey Go to original post
Looks like climbable vines returned since they were absent in Far Cry 5 and New Dawn. While I don't know if paragliders returned, I did suggest paragliders attached to vehicles. Microsoft revealed this in this trailer on the timestamp 2:10. Dynamic weather is back and it does seem there's scripted weather in the beginning of the game. We don't know if it affects gameplay. While I mentioned bringing back Far Cry 4's fortresses, the outposts seen in Far Cry 6 did give off fortress vibes and they're heavily guarded. The voice protagonists are back, but I suggested multiple voices. So far there's only 2, 1 for each gender. I don't think binoculars returns, but we use smartphones now. Far Cry 3 and 4 had a camera, but they didn't really function as cameras (Outside of Far Cry 3's missions, of course). Volcanoes exist in the Vaas DLC in Far Cry 6, but I don't know if there are volcanoes in Yara. We'll have to explore Yara ourselves in order to find out. Carjacking and hijacking returned in Far Cry 6. We can ride horses now. So far we can operate tanks, but I don't know about APCs or jets. I suggested different enemy variants and bringing back what is seen in Far Cry 3 and 4. In Far Cry 3, you have pirates and privateers. In Far Cry 4, you have the Royal Army and Royal Guard. In Far Cry 5, we hardly faced the Chosen. I think the enemies in the capital city will be better than the ones you fight outside the city. Grenade takedowns are back in Far Cry 6. While we can swing the machete again with a melee button, I don't think other melee weapons are returning. I don't see any shovels, bats or our fists.
It's great that plenty of suggestions were implemented, but we have yet to see the entire game. It's still too early to say. Since Far Cry 6 will not feature Arcade, I'm hoping to see Arcade return as a standalone free-to-play game that has crossplay.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? You mean like you can't kill someone and take their gun, or grab one that's sitting there? That would be ridiculous....Originally Posted by vTinzv Go to original post
I want them to bring back the amazing diversity of FC4 weapons and the mini-map. And maybe remove all the excess fast travel points from the newer games so that the map isn't a whole fast travel area, and remove the compass.
It's a fair request but I find I don't really use fast travel point so their presence doesn't offend me.Originally Posted by Lucas7316 Go to original post
And they are useful if you get stuck in the environment.
I always thought the fast travel system should be tiered. So Main locations (towns, outposts and significant buildings) should be points where you can travel from, to any other main location. However, travelling from the wilderness or the middle of nowhere should not be possible. There should instead be minor locations that you can't fast travel to, but are able to fast travel from (to any major location). So caves, groups of huts, things like that. The catchment area of these locations should cover them entirely, though, because not being able to find your way out of a cave due to non gameplay reasons (graphics glitches etc) is no funOriginally Posted by Lucas7316 Go to original post
The minimap is back and the compass is merged with it.Originally Posted by Lucas7316 Go to original post
I know Ubisoft will not come back to Far Cry 2's version of fast travel. In that game, you have to travel to a bus station in order to fast travel to another bus station. 13 years ago, people complained about driving too much and some nicknamed the game 'Far Drive 2'. They made it more convenient in Far Cry 3 where you can fast travel to any town and liberated outpost. In Far Cry 5, it would be any discovered location and they introduced airdrop. When you're in a middle of a mission, fast travel points located in the mission objectives would already be locked. In New Dawn, fast travel is disabled if you're in the middle of liberating an outpost.Originally Posted by Markaccus Go to original post
To game devs, convenience is more important than restrictions.

If someone thinks fast travel should be restricted in certain situations, all they have to do is not utilize it themselves when in that situation. There is no reason it needs to be restricted by the developer. We're talking about the campaign mode of the game, you're playing on your own or at most with one other person, using fast travel is not giving anyone an advantage over you, who cares if it can be used in situations where some people don't think it should be, no one is ever forced to use or not use it, it's such a silly issue to have imo...
