Even if ther is a tank in the game.....it should be simple, old, "rural" - but not modern Abrams! Or other advanced tanks. I think modern advanced tank....from another opera. It will spoil immersion!

Simple tanks and simple jets are possible.

Why do we need a tank in the game? To have more fun! Sitting in the tank and blowing up enemies to the left and to the right, crushing enemies' buildings, walls, windows....Will be fun!

    BUT!!!

First - Don't give us tank immediately, in the beginning of the game! We should suffer without tank first. Otherwise we'll never feel tank's value. Tank - must be like long-waited surprise. So necessary and so on point.

Second - Don't give us opportunity to abuse our advantage! Don't give us opportunity to abuse tank's advantage over our enemies. Tank - may ruin challenge!
If we have tank - our enemies must have anti-tank weapons or another tank.

Ubisoft should start thinking about Far Cry online, service.....

Successful service game can give hundreds of millions of dollars every ear! Very successful - hundreds of millions every month! Ubisoft can swim in money!

But I want to add a few words about tank....

Tanks should be simple, old, classic, or tanks of 60 -70-80s. It will fit Far Cry style more than some modern advanced tank!

Tank may be not only one but different tanks. I mean - light (fast), medium, heavy.
Boss on heavy tank will be good. Some Heavy Boss Tank.
Far Cry is not World Of Tanks but tanks won't spoil Far Cry. People like tanks!

Have a few minor points (by two other persons), I think it is worth to share them:

    Person #1:

    1. Idea: Diving and diving gear, combined with parachuting. [Diving was one of my ideas, too. Also I would like to see some underwater vehicles. I realy like the idea to combine it with parachuting and the wingsuit]

    2. Idea: Planes like Beechjet 400 or Learjet 45, upgraded and armed; "shy and harmless civil plane ==> scare force one"

    3. Criticism: Cars have a cool and realsitic driving physic (including RWD, FWD and so on ...) (in Far Cry 5 and New Dawn); Planes and Flying is much more unrealistic (especially planes in Far Cry 5): Planes can ascend (like a rocket) 90° into the sky without losing speed; no stall. It should be optional to choose a more realistic physic for flying

    Person #2:

    4. Idea: More "bizarre" weapons like the assault rilfe G11 or historical prototypes especially from the "wild west" (like the "Lemat Revolver" or the "2-Barrel-20-Round Pinfire Revolver"

    5. Idea: More "interessting" ammo for the cal. 50, like "SLAP" or "C4-filled shells" (fictional) (they explode by impact and create indirect hits by a splinter effect, very useful against unarmed or very light armed enemies that stand close together

    6. Idea: Modify normal weapons with self made and/or sepcial ammo (and modifications like different barrels/calibers); especially for the grenade launcher and some shotguns (with a very high caliber?)
==> as example he mentioned the "bomb-crafting stations" of Assassin's Creed Revelations, it could work similar.
    Values could be: Spread angle (barrel length and shape), Projectiles (How much? Which shape? Self-propelled, even homing?), special effect (fire (or extinguisher?), smoke, anti-armor/armor-piercing, poison, signal rounds, chemical weapon (startle animals, lure animals, kill only hostile humans in an area, make the hostiles "high", let them sleep for 60 seconds - without they notice it ==> no alarm or seeking the player));
    ... result could be: [Examples:]
    1. a big shot gun shell for the grenade launcher with 20 anti-armor projectiles and very low spread angle;
    2. two mini-missiles for the two-barrel shotgun which head to the closest enemy in their flight path;
    3. an modified blunderbuss that kills enemies only with the energy of it's muzzle, no porjectile is fired; range is close but it has a wide spread (usability similar to the magnopulser from Far Cry 5)
    4. a silenced shotgun that lures predators to you ... or better: into the hostile base
    5. a giant signal pistol shotgun cal. AA which fires a whole firework out of it's (oversized) muzzle

    7. Whish: Bring back a crossbow (since Far Cry 2, there was no crossbow anymore)

    8. Idea: Emergency revive pack: like a health pack, that revives you automatically after death, nothing new - a bit like an XTra-Life. [I like the idea, because of the AI was never able to revive you very reliable in Far Cry 5 and New Dawn]

    9. Idea: Not all enemies are armed in bases or outposts. They run an arm after they spot the player or the alarm is active. Player would have the possiblity to place traps near the weapon lockers or sabotage them ("hold X to change the ammo to dummy rounds and blanks; hold Y to fill the magazine with an explosive liquid")

    10. Crazy Idea: Combine a big "party" or "toy" slingshot (which was designed to fire ballons that are filled with water) and ...
... wasps' nests which were sealed with an simple tissue (Wenja-styled sting bomb with bigger fire range)
... a box full of scorpions (creates panic and kills the target that was hit; and maybe a few enemies that stand close to it - everything without the risk of detection by the hostiles; the one which was hit is dead, the others just see a lot of scorpions roaming around)
... a ballon that is filled with water and chironex fleckeri // sea wasps, very dangerous jellyfishes (makes the target screaming and luring all enemies to him because they try to help him)

Idea 6. and 10. could support the fact, that the player needs to collect special things like plants, components, materials, chemicals or even small and dangerous animals ... ... they annoying snake - just catch it finally and shot it with your giant toy slingshot to or even on your enemies

There were discussions about Far Cry addons or DLC......Far Cry and Postapocalypse, Far Cry and Western. Why not to unite it and make Postapocalyptic Western, for example?!

Postapocalypse + western atmoshere + mutants....

There are tons of unused music...

I hope to God its possible to ban gameguru

My wish is for a brand new engine or an engine that is much improved from Dunia. Its an overused engine that used to be breathtaking, but lost its evolution aspect after FC3. With a new engine, you can have stuff like destructible environments, dynamic effects, a bigger more detailed world, more content overall, etc.

Dunia essentially hasn't changed since 2011. Its just too old and used up

Since the Dunia Engine is nealry a synonym for "Far Cry" for me ... (maybe it would be even a better title?; but: too late now ), I would not replace it.

On the other side it could realy get some updates more. I don't think that it was not overworked again and again, but new functions would be great.

These would be the next logical things:

    - More weather effects, with influence on the worlds physics - especially driving and flying physics; but also extreme weather conditions could be an interessting point

    - More realsitic water/sea physics with waves and wind (Assassin's Creed have some good examples - ... could be used as an example); at least if water/sea is needed in a new settings

    - We already have destroyable covers and also (in a small number) environments - like the ice in Far Cry Primal ... but this aspect could sure be pushed: Like smaller buildings that collapse after they burn or even a transformable ground; a small impact crater after a mortar hit would be nice ... but I would be careful with this effect. There are a lot of games out there that were ruined by transformable ground effects

    - The most important aspect might be the size: including the height and the maximal velocity of a vehicle. On one side Ubisoft realy pushed the map size in Assassin's Creed and I (and a lot of other people) realy enjoy this. On the other side, I think on the fact that these aspects are critical needed if we want to use more and especially faster planes.

is not a bad idea, sci-fi themes neither. (Otherwise "Borderlands" [Geabox Software, 2K Games] wouldn't work over 3 or 4 games, which sounds - in aspects - similar.)
Come on, Ubisoft delivered us a well working game in the stone age . I wouldn't be uncertain, just because I see some ideas in here, that might seem "strange" for me.]

It seems I have to answer something......

    Old Lemmy will answer better....

    As for mutants and sci-fi....

Mutants, zombies, ghosts won't spoil Far Cry. Everything depends on - how it will be implemented in the game!

Did it spoil Far Cry3? Did it spoil Far Cry 4?

The main problem with supernatural creatures in games - POOR ANIMATION! Even in Hollywood movies...those zombies....we see actors in make up. They're running, making faces, roaring.... but we see people in masks. It spoils immersion.

Game would be realy cool only with good animation. Good zombie animation = scary animation. Really disgusting and.....goosebumps!

That was the problem of all horror games before Outlast - bad graphics and animation.

I heart sometimes: After Far Cry 5 and Far Cry New Dawn, where can Far Cry go next (after the nuclear war and the "apocalypse")?
First: I don't think Far Cry needs a main story line, this is just not part of Far Cry.
But - for after reading a few posts here, I think I can summarize a new idea (for a spin-off or a (bigger) DLC):

It can play after New Dawn - the super spring is over and the ecosystem resets to a "normal" (mostly barren) level. The new communities of survivors have more and more problems to find ressources. And - like in the middle ages - conflicts and smaller wars start again and again. The overall situation becomes very dark and desperate. Uprisings and civil wars start, too.

Food is getting short; after the super spring the super autumn follows. Back into the bunkers? - No option.

But the strange new "mutated" animals - they are a possiblity. They give food.
That's why herdsmen "cowboys" have a big renaissance.
The biggest food producer is a rich and powerful man (we can call him "Krieger" like in "Far Cry 1", or not). He owns the most of the animals that can survive in these times. They give food to the humans. But he is not a very nice man. He follows his "survival of the fittest" - maybe he also found a book with ideas and thoughts of Jacob Seed.
He is not only maniplulating the DNA of the cattle (and other ("new") farm animals), he also plays around with DNA-manipulation in general.
The Know-How was in the world before the war destroyed everything - but now the "annoying moral" is gone.

His super troopers (mutants) start to spread, conquer and kill.

Our protagonist, a young man/woman, that needs money (or direct: food) for her/his community and family joins Krieger. But then he/she don't want to pay the price: dead people, enscalved people, more and more agressiveness. In best Far Cry-Tradition he/she starts to fight "Krieger" in this dark post apocalyptic world against his super troopers/mutants ... and the mutants who are gone rogue. These are not simple humans - they live with anger, hate and pain ... and the idea to battle, kill and enslave.

The weapons of the "old world" won't work any more, they became to old. Repairs and improvisations won't help now, too. Gunsmiths mushroom everywhere. Old "Wild West" guns are the best way to fight in these dark times: Automatic Rifles are to ressource-intensive and the lag of spare parts mixed with the hard conditions "out there" make them only used by a few people.
Also everyone has other imaginations for his gun, old construction plans (even if they only exist in the mind of a gunsmith) are valued in gold.
That's why only a few weapons of the "old world" are in the game (including replicas), the Wild West is back; but this time it is not only dusty; it is dark, dirty and scary.

Only hard man/woman can survive here, and the idea to stop Krieger is insane: Not only because he is powerful and brutal. A lot of people follow him, because he ensures them food. Are you allowed to steal his idea? His successful business? Is he realy a insane monster? What about his "lie" / his "idea" to leave the planet, before even the mutant-animals will die and everyone will die of hunger?!
In this dark and insane world, nothing seems to be clear ... a few hard decisions await the protagonist.

    So all in all:

Story/Atmosphere: post-apocalyptic/very dark and desperate; hard man/woman (survival of the fittest as very common social mood), dusty, scary with horror elements (especially at night if you are in a "leathal zone" (a place were rogue mutants live in)).

Weapons: Wild West weapons (replicas, but without toying around with their styles to much) + new ideas of "Wild West-like" weapons (here more fantasy can be used); only a few exeptions from the overall Wild West style: like (mostly downgraded) automatic weapons (used by some rich people)
Keep in mind: the most weapons were hand made, a lot of parts of automatic rifles (which needs to be build on 0,001mm are very expensive. Other, older ideas for transporting the ammo in a gun are needed: That's why revolvers and "manual" rifles have their big come back.

Vehicles: sand buggies, horses, DNA-manipulated horses, maybe a few other animals you can buy or hijack and ride like donkeys (for more mountainous environments), off-road-vehicles like jeeps and trucks (rare/only used by rich people who have enaugh money for fuel); dunno if we need flying verhicles, since this should be a DLC/spin-off. (A hang-glider in Primal would be totally strange - I am happy we don't have one).

Comrades/Allies: Three important rebell leaders with other focuses. ... of course we have a good guy, a bad guy and an ugly guy. The last one is the best gunman ... even if he takes a bath [Insinuation to: "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", Alberto Grimaldi, Sergio Leone, 1966]
Maybe old (1960-1970) and serious meant Westerns can realy bring good ideas for this themed game ...

(Thx to GameGuru2018, for the idea and sharing the picture with the "post-apocalyptic western" scene, also a similar song could fit in this game idea; similar to the given example "The Heavy Horses" of "Pale Rider".)

It is clear they haven't used their engines to their full potential since Cysis with CryEngine 2, though I just feel like as of now Dunia is pushed to the limit unless the devs are willing to do much more for it with next gen systems in terms of actual content and functioning world. Animations need to be reworked instead of recycled, dynamic weather and wind effects are a must (dangerous and destructive weather effects included), and a greater emphasis on physics. Fellow users here also have agreed that Far Cry has definitely lost the podium in terms of groundbreaking physics effects compared to how it did in Far Cry 2 and 3. And finally, they need to make the world feel like it is constantly changing and feeling lively and detailed with scenery and eye-catching locations instead of making it mostly flat and boring like Hope County was in Far Cry 5.

(Also I suggested a ban on gameguru because he has been constantly trolling, causing issues, and spamming nonsense in this topic for quite a while)
