My ideas for Far Cry 6? Sure! - Now I have a small moment:
I. But first I think it is a good time to remeber a few things which were in Far Cry 2 and are gone:
- Cutting the palm branches with an MG. Just a detail, but it realy pushes "subjective" realism. Why not bring it back? (Maybe in a few "near scripted" situations?)
- Jamming guns - should be in Far Cry 6 as "optional" - I realy miss this aspect of realism ... but can understand that ppl also hate it. So it should be an option that can be turned on/off.
II. New ideas:
II. 1. Would be great to push the weather aspect; including some "dangerous" components like storms, (similar to the water spound in Assassin's Creed Black Flag or Rouge, + lightning strikes, also extreme heat (desert) or cold weather (mountains) can be an idea; + maybe adding vulcanic activities could be a "cool" (or hot) idea, too.
Reasoning:
In Far Cry Primal the focus on exploration was very high. I think this aspect is very important and should be mixed with the "modern stuff" of the main series to bring this aspect more into the Far Cry games in general. But this also means, "just" dangerous animals are "not enaugh". Explorations today - why can it be dangerous? Animals ... not only. Weather ... yes, the right direction.
The weather (and maybe similar things) should have a bigger effect on the way you play and the dangerous situations you could get into.
Rains = slippy road;
Snow = vehicles can get stuck;
extreme heat = stamina gets down (similar to malaria in Far Cry 2);
wind = bad for parachutes;
bigger waves = smaller boats can overturn
smaller vulcanic eruption = dangerous / "reduces health"
... etc. pp.
Maybe there should be also an option to turn extreme weater on or off; or to set how often extreme weather would appear (if not scribted in missions).
Another/Additional smaller aspects could be: Rare and beautiful weather phenomenon like rainbows or auroral lights; a bit like "easter-eggs". If you spot them, (or take a photo of them and share them), you might feel like: "Wow! I play this game now for XX hours and this is the first time I see something like this!"
II. 2. A realy new and maybe more harmless idea: (if there would be a coast in the upcomming Far Cry games):
Add tidal amplitude. Ebb and flow, clould be very interessting if you exaggerate it a bit. Imagine a cave near the coast that could be explored by foot (ebb) or in a small submarine (flow).
Also with the option of floodings (... like the poor village in Assassin's Creed 2)?
II. 3. This might be a random thing - but Far Cry is lagging in "bigger" guns (armor piercing weapons/grenade- and missile launchers); but on the other side: You can use a "jack of all trades device" - the mother of all "bigger" weapons after like 50% of the game.
I mean after Far Cry 4 we have had a "general purpose"-missile launcher; the RAT-[whatever]. You can realy cut the time you play the game into two halfs: Without the RAT and after you have got the RAT.
First thing I done in my thougts was: splitting it's functions:
- Straight On Fire
- Homing
- Guided
- Cluster (overhead)
- Maybe: "Infernal Clusters"
Then add a few missing aspects like:
- Anti Vehicle (overhead, direct; like the "Spike LR" ... or the "Javelin" (from CoD))
- Anti Air
If we have the "classic RPG" and an [unguided missile launcher #2] (with a bigger magazine but weaker ammo for ecxample), we have two weapons.
Choose a few useful functions for the current game and we can go up to 5 or 6 different missile based weapons (or similar).
Reasoning:
Why should we do this?
Because you (the player) need to choose which one you carry. If you have a "general purpose"-missile launcher like the RAT, you feel like the T-Rex in a petting zoo. It ... just doesn't feel right.
If you fear air attacks - get [missile launcher #4]
If you think you need to fight against strong vehicles - get [missile launcher #3]
If you need something that you could use easily against rushing soldiers - get [misisle launcher #2]
If you fear a blood dragon - get down, be quiet and throw cyber-hearts ... or get [missile launcher #6]
... etc. pp.
II. 4. After playing Assassin's Creed Syndicate I miss trains. Why not add - if possible - some trains into the map. They drive around and can be used as a safe transport. Or just to sit in and watch the different regions of the map passing yourself.
Reasoning:
I noticed, that - at least myself - is putting more time into a video game, if it has also some calm parts.
... far Cry 3 and "our" poker rounds.
Mix a trains that rolls through the map of the next Far Cry game with some table or card games: You sit near the window and play with your AI-mates; with on eye you can watch the map passing, with the other you can play (for money and/or fun) ;D
(... if you lose, jump out of the trains and storm the next hostile base.)
II. 5. You remeber the beginning of Far Cry 2 (the real first Far Cry for me)? - You are sitting in a taxi and get your first impressions of the country you "work" now.
I just wonder what happend to the gentle taxi driver. (Guess he saved you after your first malaria-attack.)
He should have a cameo-appearence, so we all know, that he is fine.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2020! @all
(... or 2021, 2022 (...). Depends on the date you read this post ;D)
