Far Cry 4 did it alright with the Royal Army, who are the weaker grunts that use common, older weapons while the Royal Guard are elites who are heavily armored and use much more deadly weapons and vehicles. Far Cry 5 however lost this feature. This is a feature that needs to come back.
Far Cry 5 didn't actually lose that element though. The more you progress the resistance meters, the more heavy enemies, hunters and elite enemies there are in the region, it just isn't as obvious due to it not being in direct relation to a specific story progression moment, i.e. going north or south. Enemies totally become more heavily armored as the game progresses though, however they do not start packing superior weapons as the weapons in the game at launch were already severely lacking. Would've been cool though if they started toting the AK's once the elites started becoming a more prominent presence...

Given the circumstances and the setting, it somewhat makes sense that there are no specific regions filled with elite enemies and there are no forts. I wouldn't consider that as a downgrade, but it actually makes sense. The location is meant for civilians, not the military. I don't think it would be worth the effort to rearm currently living cultists with more powerful firearms just because of one deputy. They'll die anyways. Whereas in Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4, you're facing a different faction.

I would have a very hard time believing anyone exclusively plays FC's MP because they genuinely like the gameplay of the MP itself but don't care about the map editor in the slightest. I think the ME is pretty cool, I just don't have the patience or motivation to put in the time to actually make anything with it. All the games you used as examples of titles with both SP and MP where the audiences are not so split are games where the 2 modes are of the same quality level (well, with the exception of DOOM 2016, which had garbage MP that no one really cared for for any significant amount of time to my knowledge) whereas FC's MP is undeniably of a lower quality than it's SP component, there is just a portion of the community more willing to tolerate a frankly pretty crappy MP mode due the the allure of the map editor. If FC didn't have a ME, the MP would be largely ignored I think, and honestly even with it it has a pretty low level of engagement, it's just that the people who are into it are really into it because it really is something no other game has, especially in the console space. Halo's Forge is the closest thing, but ask most of the really dedicated FC mappers and they'll say it doesn't even compare.

Halo, CoD, Battlefield, Gears, all those games are popular really more for the MP than the SP, FC is just a series that sort of falls on the opposite side of that...

I really missed weapon customization in ND and did not care for the enemy / weapon leveling situation. Might be my least favorite FC game....
Yeah, I didn't really like Doom 2016's multiplayer either. The map editor is what kept multiplayer going. There's always new content that is fresh everyday, and that alone is enough for a dedicated community to stay. Even if the map is abysmal and poorly made, it's still new. Playing the same maps made by the game developers can become stale after months of playing them.

Doom has SnapMap, but it didn't keep people playing the game like the map editor did for the Far Cry games.

Yeah, I never really messed around much with snapmap, I know you could do some interesting things with it, but it was much more limited from a geography standpoint. I think the terrain editing in FC definitely sets it's editor apart and snap map was restricted to a series of interconnected rooms. Snap map & FC's editor have very different focuses, and clearly FC's focus resonates a little more with players than snap map seems to have, cause I don't think the MP on that was very vibrant, and it doesn't sound like they're bringing it back for DOOM eternal, which has a totally different MP now...

You're right, SnapMap is not coming back. It had its own unique features. I remember playing a map that has a piano keyboard and you can walk on the keys, and it corresponds to an actual piano. It's a shame because it has a lot of potential. Playing recreated Doom 1993 levels is pretty neat. I never had a chance to play Pariah, but I have played TimeSplitters Future Perfect. The editor was as limited as SnapMap in terms of geography. I'm still waiting for TimeSplitters 4 to this day.

I think Hurk should be developed further! And deeper.....

I don't want to play as Hurk. He was already playable for Player 2 in Far Cry 4 co-op.

Hurk either needs to be made a more serious character or cut entirely at this point for me. Hurk was an interesting humorous novelty in Far Cry 3 and 4, but Far Cry 5 made Hurk pretty much a hindrance in the writing, and in turn made some parts feel like a complete joke. Far Cry needs less humor and more intensity and seriousness.

No one says play as Hurk in Far Cry 6. I think it was something like joke. But to develop character further.

To be brief - Hurk should be a symbol of man's midlife crisis! In its blossom. Even exaggerated.
With all its funny and ,the most important, sad colours.
He was dreaming about his own cult in FC5. With booobs and beer....enjoing life in its full.
It would be nice if he succeeded.
    (Even if he didn't succeed.)

Bravado, fun, is good. But it would be better if we saw him from the other side.
May be even crying sometimes and sorry for himself. With the lost meaning of life.
