So I've lurked here or there, sometimes contributing and what not, but I figured I'd throw in a Feedback thread to give my thoughts on the game.

So as a longtime Division 1 player, I'll go over the Pro's and Con's of Division 2. No I wasn't expecting a copy/paste of the first game, but here are my thoughts.

Pros:

  • Minor things like shooting grenades out of the air, allied NPCs level of interactivity like patrolling with them in the open world, or helping them secure resources, etc, AI ability use (though it can be a bit spammy especially the drones and RC cars, a pro/con then) and challenge especially on higher levels.

  • The level design on a lot of maps is really outstanding, like Roosevelt Island, Capitol Hill, the Dark Zones, etc. You really see the impact, especially in the Dark Zones, of humanities failed attempts at correction. There are a lot of areas too where you can read signs or see the hopelessness in situations. It's really well done.

  • The enemies don't feel as tanky as in the first game, though they do get a little tanky later on when you progress, which isn't a bad thing, it's a slow progression of challenge instead of it being right in your face like in the first game.

  • I really enjoy the assorted skills and specializations we get to play with, as well as the various gear sets, though some of them don't really feel unique like the 6 piece gear sets, it's a decent mechanic to slot out various talents and gear perks, etc. and help with build diversity.

  • I also greatly enjoy just how alive the world is with endless activities like Checkpoints, Territory Control, Patrols, Resource Convoys, etc. which are tied to various projects for a sense of purpose definitely lacking in the first game. There's always something to do if you want to do it.

Cons:

  • I only have one complaint with one skill set and that's shields. They feel far weaker than their Division 1 predecessor, and I absolutely hate that I cannot shoulder-swap with it like I could in the first game. The shoulder swap alone saved me countless times in the first game, and because it's not in this one, I rarely if ever use shields.

  • I don't know what this update did but the RNG was both fixed, and broken at the same time. Pre-update I had trouble finding GS 500 gear, now I find it a lot more often, however, the gear I often find now is abysmally lackluster compared to my current kit. I may find a piece here or there, but they only have minor boosts to attributes or talents, etc. It made the grind, far more grindy than what I was expecting.

  • I really miss the wide variety of cosmetic options we had for both clothing and weapon paint from the first Division. There seems to be all of the weird and tacky colors for weapons instead of all the nice neutral colors like Olive Drab, Ranger Green, Flecktarn in various iterations, etc, etc. The clothing items are extremely disappointing. There's really nothing to choose from if I wanted an all black outfit, I'd be stuck with some raggedy jeans that don't really fit anything. Where is all the tactical looking clothing? Or really anything more than the limited amount we have now. I would recommend porting over the clothing options from the first game into the second to give us more options.

  • So, I was never really a fan of the Dark Zone PvP environment, as I'm strictly a PvE player. I also made a suggestion thread regarding the Dark Zone for a PvP toggle, where people can flag themselves On or Off for PvP or PvE in the Dark Zone. This would mean that PvPer's would carry on as normal, and PvE'ers could be switched to a different PvE only Dark Zone instance where enemies are harder and go up one level, i.e. Reds into Purples, Purples to Golds, Golds get a little bit tankier, and Named are a lot harder to take down. Basically an Occupied Dark Zone without the Black Tusk (unless they specifically Occupy one of the Dark Zones.

I stood here for a good five minutes waiting for this fight to end, I made the mistake of trying to go around but welp, I was hunted down like a dog by a different set of Rogues. These two guys and myself who just wanted to do landmarks were constantly griefed by these Rogues literally right outside the gate. This isn't fun at all and it doesn't inspire any kind of sense of confidence when I'd like to go into the Dark Zone for PvE, but can't.

To close, I greatly enjoy this game, The Division is one of the best multiplayer games I've played, and although the Cons are far more detailed, that doesn't mean they degrade the Pros in any way. They're just the things that stand out to me the most as Cons.
