Bombardier Drone needs some adjusting to its pathfinding AI
Been playing with Bombardier Drones for some time now. When you add extra bombs and extra damage it can clear a whole room, specially as an opening attack move.
But I notice more and more that its pathfinding AI is a little bit clunky. Roughly one third of the times I set a pathway for it (starting and ending points) the Drone just self-destructs for no reason. Sometimes it doesn't even move, just self-destructs while hovering over my shoulder. And the worst part is it goes into full cooldown when that happens, so you not only lose a great opportunity to kill a group that is close together, you also need to wait a long time to try again.
And then I ask myself why it can't be just like the enemy's drones? Those have very advanced pathfinding techniques, they will fly low to avoid detection and will navigate the most complex pathways to reach your position and explode (the dreaded beep-beep-beep-BOOM), sometimes flying up on vertical walls.
Earlier today I was doing the invaded District Union Arena, and on the part with all those escalators I took position on the highest platform, so I could bombard everything from above. I would easily mark the points on the floor below but NONE of the drones ever made it there. Every single one would self-destruct along the way for no reason, and again with full cooldown. That was VERY frustrating.
Ubi, please look into that. I don't think it' s a bug, just something that was implemented poorly and need some correction. I play on a PS4.
