I apologize in advance since I tend to ramble being over half a century old now
I hope this will help someone with same issues running a low spec machine like me.
Hard to believe my UBI account is 11 years old now. and I have 5 posts...lol
I am running an old HP 8300 Elite Tower for about a year as I really wanted to play the first Division, as my old dual core was not up to the task at all....
I played my many hours of The Division and no issues with FPS or lagging....
Just got The Division 2 during free weekend and 20% off with club rewards on top of that after some customer service chat. (Release Date was 3 months and 1 Day old)
Started to notice after about 30 mins of game play FPS would drop to 1 or 2 FPS and a lagging mess, and Disc usage would go to 100% and never stop....
I would have to reboot game, and would be okay for another 30 minutes......All lowest in game settings.
I did every trick I knew of, from here and the internet.... I could get my game play up to an hour before all the lagging and so on started again.....
My findings watching resource monitor before it went to 100% disc usage, 8 Gigs of Ram is not enough with my old machine.... Longer game runs Ram usage goes up ....
When all is normal play my 8 GB of Ram was at 80% used for whole system and I caught it going up 90% as time went on and then it starts to use virtual memory and won't stop even when the Ram usage drops back down below 80% or lower..... Still grinding the HD at 100% usage and whole system is unusable.
I honestly do not like Windows 10, and spent hours tweaking and turning stuff off to lower my resource usage, and even tried the wagnardsoft intelligent standby list cleaner to free up Ram automatically.... It would show me it would clear the Ram standby list at least 48 times in a 1 hour game play session..... But once game went to 100% disc usage and to virtual memory, the standby list cleaner did not work anymore.....
So my fix was to spend money on an 8GB (4GBx2 ) Ram kit off the jungle, now I have 16GB of Ram and that fixed my issues!!.... And bonus Windows 10 runs like I just freshly installed it......
Everything just works better.... No more 100% disc usage, no more virtual memory running, no more hard page faults in the Division 2 running process.....
Wife just snickers at me as she plays on her MSI GE72 Apache Pro lappy top I bought her...... And I am stuck with low spec prebuilt office machine...
Happy wife=Happy Life...
HP 8300 Elite Big A$$ Tower - Windows 10 Pro Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz 16GB RAM EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 1TB Mechanical HD
Game settings on low, off and no..resolution scale 75%, ... DX12 renderer OFF (crashes my system when on), Frame Rate cap 60 fps , Windowed full screen.
Now if I could keep the wifey from putting stuff on her SSD boot drive, my life would be perfect![]()
