It’s dark zone based that has a team of four players collecting loot from NPC’s they then attempt to extract the items, while they are attempting to do this a group of 4 other players are shown surrounding them... I believe they were shown as rogue but I can’t check at this time..
The whole game was built around how people would react if they were found in the whole outbreak situation.. assist others or turn on them.
I would class myself as a mainly PVE player but the division 1 DZ was amazing. I was in there for hours at a time.
Yes I got destroyed by true pvp players at times but it was amazing when loads of squads of 4’s (when we had a big map and loads of squads) would go after the rogues or when we were rogues being hunted by loads of agents 😂
The problem with the division 2 dark zone is it’s been dumbed down so much.
The changes to the odz is a step in the right direction though.
Except the patch release notes stated they were trying to foster confrontation and increase the tension within the DZ. That's why they allowed items being extracted to get stolen. The mechanic was added to increase all that.Originally Posted by gas692tec Go to original post
Agree, let us extract items in the open world. Half of the problem solved.
Here is a few constructive changes that would make it more enjoyable for everyone:
* When you steal loot from players show what you are looting, because now i bet people just loot everything because they have no idea what the guy hade.
* Merge instance so its more or less allways 12 players per instance. If a group/player go rogue they will allways be outnumbered.
Would decrease the gank just to steal the loot.
* Allways show rogue players on the map not just after they get disavowed.
* Decrease the respawn timer on manhunt to a maximum of 30 seconds.
* Rework the normalization system to a flat % decrease on attributes instead of the mad system where you get penalty if you rerolled attributes.
This would make people more competetive without having a specific setup just for normalized.
For example my chest came with 14.5% weapon damage so i rolled in more armor on it instead but if i meet a guy in hes pve set and he have
rolled weapon damage on hes chest i will have ~2x more weapon damage then him on just chest alone.
I want to quickly remind everyone to be respectful of others and their thoughts and views on the game (and various game modes). If a player doesn't participate in a particular game mode, they may have a unique insight on changes that might be made to include more players in that mode, and their ideas should not be outright refuted.
I'll alter and offer this suggestion one final time.
If a player enters the Dark Zone with the flag toggled off, this means that they won't be roped into PvP, or affected by it; the NPC strength and effectiveness goes up a level. Meaning, red enemies become purple, purples to gold, and existing golds get extra toughness and effectiveness, meaning it's a bit more of a challenge to PvE players.
With this flag off, you are "invisible" via the radar and you don't show up on the HUD of PvP players (with a pulsed skill for instance), meaning that they'll see you're not flagged for PvP and thus won't waste their time.
If a player enters the Dark Zone with the flag toggled on, then they're free to conduct themselves as they would currently, the only difference being that should they spot someone and identify them, an outline on the player would show up (like how the pulse outlines objects), indicating that they are susceptible to PvP.
The current state of the Dark Zone every time I've tried attempting is always down to PvE oriented folks like myself being hunted down mercilessly by two or more Rogues with purely PvP oriented kits. They instantly melt folks like me and then run along somewhere else. This is entirely un-fun and I'm sure there are many like me who cannot experience the Dark Zone, whether it's admiring the ambience, atmosphere, and level design, or looking for an additional challenge outside of the Open World full of the same grind over and over.
Alternatively, if you toggle PvP on, then you'll enter the Dark Zone as normal. If you toggle PvP off, then you'll be switched to a different instance of the Dark Zone with the aforementioned challenging NPCs, which would be free of other players except for yourself or if you run in PvE group.
Nothing really changes. Those folks wanting to engage in PvP content would be able to do so against those who flagged themselves for PvP content.
Those who want to engage in PvE content without getting constantly and needlessly griefed would be free to engage in PvE content against more challenging NPCs.
That was the trailer that made me buy the game.Originally Posted by Iabby Go to original post
But in that trailer we could clearly see that they took cover and used tactics to overcome those who attacked them.
Something that never ever happened for real in game when it was released.
I was real angry at my self then how i could fall for that trailer cause it wasnt true.
But i would love if Massive somehow forced us to actually use cover and tactics in DZ
That would be a gamebreaker and i think would get players to DZ.
the dz activity compared to the number of active players, really no one is playing. I’m not a big dz player but I’m there enough to know it’s a ghost town most days. You may get a battle royal by the post office only if you are lucky. The dz is basically PvE players. The ODZ is “forever alone” most of the time.
Clearly there is a firm rejection of the DZ evnvironment. Personally I think the the dz in the first game was what it was and isn’t going to be recaptured even if you copy it whole sale. The players are different, times have changed, and reject “bully” atomosphere. You can either have a Dz empty or full of people playing against hard endgame PvE trying to extract loot in peace Don’t be slow to adjust like quake when counter strike was taking over the world.
I might actually visit the place with a toggle, until then the DZs just don't exist in my game.Originally Posted by FylkirPanzer Go to original post
I went in Friday evening, my only time so far. After a few minutes came across another player. We sized each other up (he was clearly the higher level), than went our own ways...so I thought.Originally Posted by Spidey456 Go to original post
I found a rifle, than went to extract it, and was instantly shot at by the other player. I escaped without extracting, but went to the other zone...and several moments later was shot at again. I was only able to extract and escape because he was beset by several NPCs at once.
He was the only one I came across, but kinda telling.
Did they not add "being able to hear other players talking" if they're close by?
