So literally as I was recording the playthrough to provide for an investigation for the devs, as per sod's law, I managed to complete it just after my post here. The issue was with the amour pieces on the left leg of the Basilisk. After shooting the pouch like attachment to his left left, there remains an invisible armour piece to still break off. I believe a video has been posted in the thread to demonstrate this.

Use demolitionist grenade launcher 5-6 grenades , i got him last night.

This. Firefly Blinder to stop him. 6 grenades cleared his armor, reload and 7th finished him off (or anything, but I really wanted to blow him up). This was on Normal. Took too many tries trying to whittle off his armor without killing him before reading this, so thank you.

Just used your tip with the Grenade launcher. Worked 1st time!

I had tried 8 or 9 times using SMG/LMG and flashbangs, but failed (I'm not a very good shot).

6 grenages from close range, then 1 firefly blinder and a few SMG shots to the remaining armour.

The last shots were to the helmet and then the LEFT leg. This has glitched/invisible armour (as metioned by others).

The trick is that the grenades weaken ALL the armour, and destroy some. So it is much easier and quicker to shoot off the rest without killing him first.

Thank you for info about ivisible armor, and yes you can still see it after using pulse.

Hmm. 6 grenades seemed to clean him off for me, the 7th without any other damage killed him and awarded the research. Guess it varies depending on your stats (explosive damage, etc).

Was hoping it was a foolproof method, but looks like you still have to pay attention. I'm just glad it worked out for me.

I’m sorry but as a season pass holder, we shouldn’t have to deal with the issues with the Basilisk. I’ve spent at least 6,8, or more hours trying to do this, grenades, launcher, firefly, etc.. the list goes on. Of course if you accidentally kill the last guy, you have to do the Stronghold again. I’m sorry, I guess I should be punished for just wanting to play through the stages. For those that completed, congrats but it doesn’t need to be this hard just to enjoy. As a pass holder, I guess I should feel lucky it automatically opened the Gunner for me because it must be extremely difficult for those that need that last stage to open up the profession. Really, kill 100 people with a turret, the best you can do is a time sink? Ubi, you can do better than this.

He has kneepads on both his knees inside his pants. Its very hard to see but they are there. After you wreck the rest of his armor, shoot his knees one by one until the blue numbers disappear. Then kill the suck3r! It was very frustrating until we noticed that on his dead body, then we got it the first time.
