Xbox One version of Division 2 is darker than other versions

Okay, so a couple of months ago I reported a gamma problem on Xbox One X that I had believed to be fixed. I did so on this forum and you can look it up if you want to. This past weekend, with the game offering a free to play weekend on all platforms, I downloaded and played the PS4 version. I was shocked to find that TD2 was much brighter on my PS4 Pro. In fact, the colors look different too. So, feeling curious which was the "correct" look, I downloaded TD2 to my PC and played it there, too. The PC version looks identical to the PS4 version. It looks like there is something wrong with the Xbox version, but only the devs can say for sure.

Could the devs please take a look at the game running on Xbox One and confirm that the game is displaying correctly? Let me give some info on what setup I'm using so you can recreate the issue.

I'm playing on Xbox One X. I have a HDTV (not HDR compatible), with my Xbox setup to display a standard color space (or limited space for the PS4 version). This is the correct setting for HDTV's. My television has been professionally calibrated, so I know that the brightness and gamma settings are set correctly. (this is so the devs know what I'm seeing)

Please ask the devs to compare the Xbox version to the other two platforms using a HDTV with the appropriate color space selected. They should see the difference right away. If this is intended, then okay. I would just like to get some word, one way or another, to know why there's such a difference in the appearance of the game on Xbox.

    Thank you!

Just wanted to give an update on this issue for attention. I purchased TD2 on PS4 after the free weekend last week to continue playing with friends, so I've had extensive playtime on Playstation over the last week. There is definitely something wrong with Xbox in regards to color/gamma/brightness. The PS4 version of the game is not only slightly brighter, but the colors are more vibrant than they are on Xbox. All of the information I listed above is still there for recreation purposes. Admittedly, this isn't a high priority problem, but I thought I would bring this to the attention of the devs.

Quick sum up. There's something wrong with the Xbox version of TD2, that's making the game slightly darker than it's supposed to be. My guess is it's a gamma problem, but I can't say for sure. Thank you!

    Hello DirtyWolverine,

Thanks for reaching out! Could you please provide us with a short video so we can take a look? Just asking, as a recording scraps all of your TV settings, so we can justify if it's a game issue or your settings. Thanks!

Just a quick note, lots if not all 4K HDR t.v's and monitors when in HDR mode gamma/brighness/contrast etc etc cannot be adjusted, the t.v/monitor decides so we only have the in game settings to play with.

p.s Even though the OP has not got HDR i thought i would share this info, i have 4K and HDR and trust me, it's a nightmare when the game changes from daylight to nightime....nightime being the worst.

Forgot to also say, when i play TD2 my monitor automatically switches to HDR because the game is in HDR and there is no way of me turning off HDR, not that i can find anyway.

    Hey JayKay040792,

I believe that HDR can be turned off via your TV Settings, it will auto apply in-game if HDR is turned on.

If I am not mistaken I do believe the Xbox One X does have an option to disable HDR as well.

If you can get back to us with a video of the issue, it would be very helpful for the team to be able to look into further.

On my t.v i can just play in game mode but kinda defeats the purpose of HDR..........I have though switched from t.v too p.c monitor:

    https://www.benq.com/en-sg/monitor/v...fications.html

Reason being is that t.v's don't have freesync technology which the Xbox One uses and the results are so much better, the monitor also uses HDR10 which the Xbox also uses.

Turning off HDR10 via the Xbox just makes the game even darker than it already is......There is also no option on this monitor to turn off HDR and if there was it would result in the game being even more darker.

Not using HDR on my 55" tv. I also have it on game mode. It doesn't matter, the game is so dark in places that you literally cannot see and there is no way for me to adjust my settings in-game, on xbox, or via my tv to help. I have tried everything I can think of

Sorry, I didn't notice this had been responded to. If I get some time this weekend, I can try to make a couple videos to demonstrate the issue. I've heard in the past that Xbox has a strange sRGB curve that isn't standard like the Playstation 4 uses. It might explain the issue, since a lot of the problems with Xbox seems to come from the image looking like the contrast is turned up a few notches higher than it should be. Shadows are deeper and brights are brighter. I'm not an expert, though, so I could be wrong. Like I said, I'll see about making a couple videos if I can.

Example of with and without HDR

    Without HDR:

    With HDR:

So for those without HDR it's a nightmare

Since getting the new monitor with HDR10 and Brightness Intelligence Plus (B.I.+) the problem is not so bad for me anyway.

This is a good example of how Ubisoft broke the lighting system in order for HDR to work, and players who do not have this function simply spoil their eyesight, and I am sure most of players. A "normal" game without HDR usually looks like the last picture .
