Let's jump right into it:
I have around 100 hours into the game (92) and cannot help the team and get any kills at all. I have an average knowledge of the maps, I know some callouts, but when it comes to gun play and outsmarting the opponent, I get confused and picked off
At ATTACK:
I play Hibana and Thatcher, sometimes I take Fuze too. But aside from Operators abilities, I cannot contribute much at all. I hear people say ''Be more aggressive'' but the instant I get up close to the objective I get gunned down. I try to keep it nice and quiet but to no avail. If I'm not getting spawn peeked, I am getting killed by roamers or lurkers
At DEFENSE:
As much as I love being a defender, I can't become better at it, I usually try to play Mira but I fail so I try to stick with Kapkan or Jager. Aside from placing my traps/mirrors/ADS's, I can't do much. I try roaming but then I find out that there is a Jackal on me or I just stumble upon someone and get insta killed
I try anchoring and this is just as bad, I hold angles and sometimes it works, but then I die out of nowhere because of X and Y operator (basically anyone I'm tryna say)
I try spawn peeking, but it never worked out for me. I get killed the second they see the window barricade broken, here it's just my aim at fault
If I get into a fair gun fight I die, plain and simple, I try to control the recoil to no avail, I burst fire and it leaves them with 10 hp, I try aiming for the head and I miss
I never got more than 2 kills in a single round
I know Rainbow has a very steep learning curve, but I think anyone passed that curve by the time they reached 100 hours in the game
I'm guessing I'm just bad at shooters and this is not a game for me, which I don't want to believe because I like the game, but it's hard to like the game when you lose
Any idea on how a noob can improve, guys? I don't know at this point, I'm legit lost
Well...first things first.... HIOriginally Posted by TOCKSYK Go to original post
So.....
I have 1228 hours played. I played a lot for awhile, played a little for awhile and play on regular basis for awhile. Additionally, I do not play Ranked as it is WAY too much of a hassle for me, because, alas, my gaming is supposed to be entertainment. Plus, real life abounds from time to time and rears its ugly head every now and then. So, if you look at my numbers they are sub-par competitive. But, I do have quite a few breakout matches on a regular basis. But, most of all, I really just have fun.
With regard to your situation, I can offer this: RB6 has a VERY HIGH learning curve. You should consider yourself fortunate that you can throw up 2 kills in a round if you just started. The game itself is 4 years old, and many folks, like myself, have been playing it from the get-go.
So, first things first - learn as much about the maps as possible. The more you know the maps, the better off you will be. Once you do that - then you can start thinking strategies, on both attack and defense. A good way to learn is just to watch what other players do. Even if you die, and especially on defense, get on cams and call out attackers. Also, again, look at what other people are doing to learn.
Secondly, it sounds like you have started with some simple operators like Fuze, Kapkan, Jager. If I were you, I would do just that - stick with the simple guys that can help you rack up some points. In turn, with their straight forward abilities, you can also learn more about the character, how they interact with other fellow character (same team) and how they counter the enemy team.
Finally, try to find a group of people you can play with. This is actually quite easy in Casual as I get asked often to "team-up" after a match. I'm not sure if you are PC or console, but in the PC world, gaming is a bit fluid with a good mix of folks. With a good group around you, you can receive pointers, ask questions, again observe and learn, and have a good time. Folks in Casual for the most part (again, "most" being important here), are laid back and you can learn a lot from them.
Be patient and work through things. When you are killed, watch the replay and self-critique yourself on what you could have done better. Doing that over and over again will make it second-nature, and eventually, the number of mistakes you make go down.
Have fun playing...![]()
I love these types of threads! Seriously, it helps everyone.
First off, don't play to win, or to get kills. Play to have fun! Sometimes after a hard day at work (often lately) I get on and know that I'm gonna play like crap. I tell the team I'm gonna suck and normally they say they suck too. I relax and 7-10 times I actually play better than when I try to play good.
Secondly, get Sledge. He can be very fun to play and can avoid a lot of traps simply by going through walls. Point A-B type thing.
Lastly, don't take anything personally. Forget about vote kicks and people on mic calling you out to be a bad player. You're still learning..and you will get better at strategy.
Also..turn off the background music (if you haven't already), and go into your own custom match(es) and tweak your settings! It's very important that you get the best 'feel' out of your sensitivities! Every season it seems like Ubi messes with the sensitivity settings in one way or another, so always be sure you're as comfortable as you can be with them.
Again, don't sweat the small stuff, and it's all small stuff! Enjoy the game and don't worry about 'winning' or 'losing'..you're going to be doing a lot of both! GL!
ETA: Nrod beat me to the punch by 1 min! LOL..good stuff from him ^^
