Sad to hear, but that makes a lot of sense. Like I said, you can't even tell it's happening if you do get an A+, so knowledge of it only comes from a few players passing it on. People are probably avoiding multiplayer early on, too, thinking they aren't competitive yet, instead of that it's easy XP.Originally Posted by Scruffy McGuffy Go to original post
I have a list of things I rattle off when I see someone new to the game or concerned about the grind, on how to approach and what to do (things like let the RedLynx guy contracts lead you through the game, never not be on contract, unlock bikes before anything else, check the first stadium for the red bull contract chain to start, contract chains are a thing, do multiplayer, etc). I suspect it would do a lot for the game to just tell them those things, but RL seems to want to not inform players of anything while making the game an obtuse confusing mess, which is basically market suicide in these days of ten thousand amazing games all vying very aggressively for attention and time.
Tyrion, indeed.
While RL is content to leave in lootboxes and XP grind, and for their reviews to forever show as "Mixed" to turn away potential buyers, contrast this with the turnaround of No Man's Sky. Remember when the creators got death threats after launch? Now, the community more than doubled a GoFundMe goal to buy a billboard near Hello Games office to thank the devs, with the surplus being used on beer and lunch for the team.

To be fair, I wouldn't use that as an example because it's quite stupid thanking a lying company who delivered a less than half-assed game on launch that was only maybe possible to be called a "game" one year(?) after release. Also, NMS is 3 years old by now. Rising is 4 months old.Originally Posted by Scruffy McGuffy Go to original post
I don't think Rising is remotely close to the ****show that was NMS.
That isn't the point I was making. I never suggested the state of Rising was ever the same as NMS. The point is, the current perception of NMS for a new player is much better than from a launch player. For example on Steam reviews, NMS user reviews in the first few months were "Mostly Negative" and in the last few months they are "Mostly Positive". Hello Games could have just taken their cash and moved on, but instead they worked hard to change the perception of their game. Meanwhile, RL don't seem to care. New players have much the same SP experience as launch players, and do you think that's going to change? It wouldn't take much dev time to rip out lootboxes and XP grind, and shouldn't take much dev time to fix the lingering bugs, but it's obviously not a priority.Originally Posted by IImayneII Go to original post
Again, I think this is much different. NMS was a hyped up game you saw everywhere, it wasn't a niche game like trials. They also got a lot more sales than trials will have so they had the luxury to actually fix the game afterwards. (RL is part of Ubisoft, so yeah they should be able to as well) And the company didn't really have much of a choice of fixing the game if they wanted to be taken remotely seriously again. People seem to forget they lied about almost everything in the game. I don't care about how good the game might be now, these practices should not be accepted.Originally Posted by Scruffy McGuffy Go to original post
You praise NMS for changing the perception, but this is 3-4 years after launch, Rising is 4 months old.
But this doesn't imply I'm defending RL here. Community communications have dropped to a sub par level, the game is not in a good state, still. I wouldn't claim fixing the bugs are easy to fix because I don't know how the engine looks, it might be hard, regardless of it seeming like an easy fix from the outside. And I agree trials doesn't feel like a priority at this point. The passion they had for the game just seems to be gone at this point and it's reflected in the game and in the community.
I said this before but the only thing that will save the trials franchise is if we ever get a new (or properly updated) engine for the game, because by now it's obvious that it's trash.
I can only hope this is their focus now if we ever get a new trials.I'm honestly not sure if at this point I would buy a new trials if it was still the same outdated engine.
Considering this game is STILL a broken mess almost 4 months after release and each patch fixes 1 thing but breaks 2 more, then yes, they seem to be sitting around playing with themselves instead of fixing this abhorrent game.Originally Posted by LIONDEN1 Go to original post
It seems their free time is spent creating ways to screw over their fan base and squeeze more money out of us while COMPLETELY disregarding how utterly and disastrously broken this game is.
You Lionden truly are a moron of the highest order. I hope this game really does work for you because soon you'll be the only one playing it.
