Seems Like There's a Rift Between Ubisoft Higher Ups and For Honor at E3

I think it's fair to say that everyone who still has a participating interest in For Honor was left feeling very underwhelmed by their very brief and uneventful appearance at the E3 Ubisoft Showcase. We obviously direct our frustration and disdain towards the team running For Honor but upon closer inspection we might be directing our frustration at the wrong people.

After re-viewing the day with the benefit of hindsight and a more analytical eye, there are some tell tale signs present that lead to the conclusion that Ubisoft (as the parent company of the For Honor team) restricted For Honor's ability to do anything more than just show a trailer of content we already knew was coming. In essence it was Ubisoft that willingly decided to give For Honor such a small and restricted showing at this event as apposed to this being "the best that the FH team could come up with". There's three major events of relevance that leads me to this assumption:

    1) Roman and Luc revealed "Spectator Mode" during the pre-show warmup event but then it doesn't get mentioned at all during For Honor's slot at the big E3 show proper. Why would they reveal a new feature (and a major comp community requested one at that) at the least watched and smallest stage of E3, i.e. the warm up stage, and then omit it entirely from the main event? This is way too odd, even for our boys, to have been either a mistake or bad planning. Like they seriously went, "Let's absolutely not mention a new feature during the big E3 event that is made for announcing new features".

I doubt that kind of blunder very much. This feels like a compromise that was made when they knew that Ubisoft's event management had restricted For Honor's time slot at the E3 showcase to almost nothing with no on-stage developer presence allowed. This also leads into point number two...

    2) No studio would miss this big of an opportunity to bring their A-game during the biggest and most significant day of an E3 event. It feels like this was a decision made from higher ups at Ubisoft to give For Honor such a small appearance in order to make room for other more important titles.

    3) The For Honor team has booked 3 days of streams for "match showcases". This is another thing that strikes me as a compromise/negotiation of being restricted at the biggest show of the event. This will likely be the time where the For Honor team will be left to their own devices to showcase the new spectator mode because now they're not taking up a time slot for another more important title as far as Ubisoft management is concerned.

TLDR: We should consider directing our ire more towards Ubisoft's attitude towards For Honor rather than the FH team themselves as they are very likely not in charge and are just playing the cards they are dealt. That doesn't make their poor showing at the most significant stage of E3 any less embarrassing or frustrating but at least we should be open to having a broader understanding of the context behind these incredibly odd decisions.

Well I guess the biggest letdown was, when the event trailer was over and they directly skipped to Rainbow 6 Quarantine, without a dev coming out to speak to the audience. All the youtubers were like "No No that can't be it ... c'mon" or "There must be more later on".
Same as the whole community ;b

When they kicked off with "Limited time game event", I already was very sceptic. Like why would you bring such a minor thing up to E3. Especially after last year being this packed up with cool stuff??

Yeah. I thought E3 is a good place to show two new heroes, bring a discount on this year pass and maybe tease something new. But...event...

Revealing the new heroes wasn't very likely from the beginning. Since we get only 1 new hero per season + 1-2 reworks, there wouldn't be much left to talk and hype about the second half of Year 3.
