I love this game.
Sorry for the overly enthusiastic title to this post, but I really see a lot of potential in this game. Played for a few hours so far and I already think it has such a solid base. I'm a little hurt that it won't be out until early 2020, but hopefully a few betas between now and then will be coming (and a few beta keys wouldn't hurt either, just sayin).
I do have a few bits of constructive criticism though. I'm hoping this is the right page to post this in.
For one, the tutorial states you must go counter clockwise in order to complete a lap and open the goal. However, I've seen players go clockwise and generate a lap as well. Maybe I'm missing something (or maybe the occasions this has happened might have been a bug), but if this is intended, it should be stated in the tutorial. Also, if this is not intended, it might be helpful to either: having a flashing notification appear if you've got the ball and are going in the wrong direction, or add a "go the other way" quick chat option. Some players seem to be using going in the wrong direction as a defensive strategy when they have the lead. So if you can defend your point position, as well as generate a lap in order to score more points, that seems a little unfair and has really dragged out games wherein a team is losing.
Second, I truly believe that if an expansive customization system that includes character creation and items is put in place, this could be an explosively successful IP. Obviously, this is going to be put in place. I just really want to express that if you can combine the character customization of NBA 2K (just as an example of a popular franchise that thrives off of this feature among others), have items and emotes on par with Fortnite (as much as I hate the game, they really know how to make enticing in game items), then add a drop of customization that's a long the lines of Rocket League (like streaks for your skates, maybe sound effects when you tackle, dodge, jump and tuck to pick up speed, and tricks you can do when jumping), then I can see people really finding the sense of player progression rewarding. Of course, with customization comes a massive monetizing machine. I'm sure if this game is free to play, (which, if it wasn't that would be the strangest move ever) then there will no doubt be a season pass and tons of in game stores. I just really hope they allow players to earn all of the purchasable items through gameplay as well.
Third, (this might be a bit out of place since it seems Ubi wants every player to be capable of all the same feats) I think this game would really feel great if you added a perk system. Once again, something a long the lines of NBA 2K. A system wherein players can earn perks that help them fine tune their play style and really stand out on a team. For example: if you are trash at holding the ball and getting a lap in, but you're great at hunting down the other team and tackling, then creating a bigger sized character that can't move as fast but can regenerate from a tackle attempt fast would be great for you. Players already are able to tackle way too often, so adding a perk that trades overall top speed for the ability to tackle more often could balance things. Or a perk that makes your passes more accurate but your dodges don't regen as fast, or vice versa. Limiting the perks to one (maybe two if they are built in a way wherein one doesn't directly counter the negative result of another and leaves the player with no negative trades) should prevent this kind of system from getting out of hand, while still accomplishing the goal of creating player diversity. I just really like team dynamic in this game, but I feel like they've just scratched the surface of how in-depth in can be.
Lastly, I know there will be community events and probably tournaments (hopefully this makes some groundswell in the esports community), but one last feature I believe would fit this game perfectly is a team building system. Most competitive games have a ranking system for individuals. I'm sure there will be one in this game as well. But what if you had a system wherein you had a global ranking for teams. You could compose a team of a 12 (or 24) player roster. That way, hopefully at any given time, you can squads of 3 within your club online and ready to play and rank up the overall club rank. Obviously, players could start the roster with their friends. But for players who may not have friends, they could try out for a club. For example: if you are a highly competitive club, you could set your tryout qualifications to something like play 10 games ranked and have a positive record after 10. After applying to that club, your characters clothes change to say something like "tryout" on the front with the team logo on the back for the next 10 ranked games. Upon completing the tryout, a highlight real is made showing your scores from 3 wins (in this case). That way the creator of the club can pick the best player to join. I know I may be reaching for the starts here, but a system like this could be extremely engaging. You could even get crazy and add a specific currency that can only be earned by being in a club and performing well. You can get crazier by allowing players to negotiate trades and poach other players, creating a player driven economic ecosystem. I'm sorry if this sounds totally insane. I'm no developer, so I have no clue if this is in the realm of possibilities here.
Anyways, since this is the forum, I figured I drop my word vomit here to express how much I'm already enjoying this game. Good job.
TL;DR: This game is dope. Please give me a beta key. I don't want to wait until 2020.
