Between all the hyper armor being handed out like candy and 400ms lights on heavy characters. Assassin's only thing that separate them from other characters at this point is having smaller health pools, reflex guard and deflects that they can't even use because of hyper armor. Eating one heavy from a heavy character is basically a death sentence for an assassin. Assassin's should get a damage reduction during their deflect animations, or deflect attacks should nullify hyper armor. Another suggestion would be to give them more health or reduce damage on the heavy characters.
I agree with you. Almost all assassins are in bad state now. I think assassin need something more than powerfulier deflects. First they need is offence, look at the Berserker, imo he is good example how assassins should be. Assassins need very strong offence, high damage, especially on punishes if we talk about counter-attackers (Orochi, PK and Shinobi), and mandatory recovery cancels on heavy/light whiffs.
As a newer player to this game I have to back up the OP with my "noob" impressions of what an assassin character is in this game. It doesn't make much sense. I tried out Berserker, PK, and other "assassins" and basically came to the conclusion "Why would I play these classes over Raider/Sakura/Highlander etc".
From a new players perspective I read what the challenges/advantages of the class style is, look at what all my options are across all heroes, and it just smells like an old role/mechanic that got systemically patched over throughout the two years since release and the entire mechanic concept of the class style is obsolete and moot point.
Just my two cents with fresh eyes.
