She isn't dead, just unconscious. Funny fact, this resembled me to what happened to Lucy Stillman in AC:BH. She used to work for Abstergo, but then she joined the assassins (just like Victoria did) but it turned out that Lucy was a spy from Abstergo. Desmond then killed her because the Apple showed him what would happen if they didn't stop her.

Since we see that Otso Berg was listening to them all along, and knows the location of the Atlantis, it wouldn't surprise me if Victoria was a spy all along, since there's little to no back story to why she joined the assassins. Maybe the Hermes's Staff showed Layla Victoria's true intentions and, in a way, wanted to kill her. But we don't know, we'll have to wait until episode 3, or the next game.

From what I can tell, the general consensus is that Layla's current aggression comes from reliving that Deimos memory, but you're totally right that the PoEs could have a similar affect on someone. I hadn't considered that.
Well at the very least she said that the staff did this to her and she's not like this though I'm sure the connection to the memory of Deimos at the very least made it easier for the staff to tap into Layla's aggression if nothing else. Plus she was already in possession of the staff when she connected to the memory of Deimos iirc so that could also have been the staff seizing a moment of weakness and shock to tap into Layla's aggression as well.

True but you have to remember....these artifacts push the will of the Isu who created them on people...they are not necessarily good or even truthful. That's why the Eagle Bearer told Layla that when she is done she should destroy the staff and all other Isu artifacts. That is why the eagle bearer destroyed the pyramid thing that was essentially controlling the Cult of Kosmos.

Yeah, I thought that too since Layla seems to struggle everytime she uses the Animus in this DLC. As I said, we don't know yet what is going on. Pure speculation, maybe I'm right, maybe she's just begin to get crazy because of the Staff, or the Atlantis itself has a negative effect on humans who have not a strong Isu adn, since the only two humans we know that held the Staff and lived in the gates of Atlantis for a long time were Pythagoras and Kassandra, both with strong Isu adn in them.

Oh boi, I'm getting my hype high again.

I don't know if Victoria is a spy or if she is just genuinely worried.
The last scene made it clear that she at least has a very good reason to be worried. I think the staff combined with the violent memories Leyla had to relive are taking their toll. And that's what they wanted to show in that moment. Leyla turns into someone she doesn't want to be and she can't control it...for now
As I said, I don't care for those modern day segments and I don't care for the modern day characters. But at least it's a little more interesting right now.

Regarding the whole "Victoria is an Abstergo spy" conversation that has sprung up, I have to disagree. The Heir of Memories LToG established that Abstergo discovered them through a hack. If one of the members was a spy, they would have alerted Abstergo to the location of Atlantis long before that like during the events of the main game. Furthermore, Victoria saved Layla from them in episode 1 by removing her from the Animus to warn her. If she was with them, she wouldn't have done that since why make the mission more complicated by awakening the defender of your prize?

As for her being knocked unconscious, I hope that is the case but as I said before the way the animation and dialogue go definitely suggests death over incapacitation. I'm hoping that maybe in Episode 3 as the staff's power is fully unlocked it gains the ability to heal people. After all it can grant immortality to the user as well as make it so they don't need the essentials like food to survive.

Whether Victoria is dead or unconscious. Layla's actions have led Alethia to feel that she was wrong, & that Layla is no longer worthy to hold the title of heir. I think this far in, it's unlikely that Layla's status in Alethia's eye's is going to change if she has a chance to prove herself. And Layla will have to prove herself. either that or Alethia will have to give her the benefit of the doubt. Layla has learnt so much & knows too much.

Scenario A. Dr Vic is unconcious, & Layla is just nipping out to the doc's car to pick up her medical bag & defibrilator. Layla saves doc, They both have a moment & Alethia recognises how humane, compassionate & determined Layla is as a person. She is truly worthy of carrying the mantle Heir of Memories.

Scenario B. - Dr Vic is dead. As Tiudyr645 suggested, The doc is a spy. The staff showed Layla something that could be shown in flashback next ep, that proves Vic was going to impede the Keepers journey in Atlantis. The Doc did afterall grab the staff out of Layla's hands, she had no right to do that. Wasn't EB aboiut to kick Hades before doc brought Layla out? At the end of ep1, as EB came face to face with Cerberus, the doc brought Layla out, only to be confronted with 3 abstergo agents, the metaphoical 3 headed dog. So I don't know if it was Layla's subconcious or the bleeding effect that caused her to lash out. But Layla may be gone simply to find the proof that Doc had evil intentions. Also Layla is got changed into her civvies, but the doc is still wearing her wetsuit with the prominent 'Hammerhead' logo. So ubisoft has a sponsorship deal (which must be hard to come by in a game set in Ancient Greece, but they found a way lol) But I did a search on hammerhead symbolism, & apart from references to hammer & sickle communism etc. in primal astrology, a hammerhead is someone that tells you what you want to hear, ie. I'm a doctor, I'm concerned about your health.

So if Layla can convince Alethia that the doc's the interloper, or whatever, then she can carry on the journey. Just a thought. Only 6 weeks to go

Honestly, I don't give a single F. about what happens to Layla or her annoying doctor.

This could as well be part of the plan. I am not convinced that Victoria is a spy. But I am also not convinced that she isn't.

If Victoria is indeed dead then it's part of the story and only shows how dangerous the staff is and that Layla is losing control. So it would make total sense. Of course, if you like Victoria it's sad. But as was said before...Isu artifacts tend to mess up peoples minds pretty much. They were made to control humans. And I guess that's exactly what the staff does to Layla. I get the feeling that the staff did the same to Pythagoras who didn't want to give it to Kassandra at first. You can, of course, convince him or you can fight him but it is clear that the staff has some kind of power over people. The simulations Aletheia is showing you are made to show Kassandra/Layla how to control it. And while Kassandra doesn't seem affected by it's power (maybe because of her special bloodline), Layla is human and obviously very much affected by it.

It was easy not to consider because Eagle Bearer dealt with it better than Pythagoras or Layla. Kass/Alex didn't seem different at all. So maybe one could forget the staff was actively trying to corrupt them. Layla does not appear to have that same strength.

It's a point I hit on in a thread asking if Layla might not be worthy to be Heir of Memories. EB resisted the staff for centuries. Not a few days in, and Layla is acting self important and impatient.
