I Knew This Episode Would Ruin Things

I had a feeling as this episode approached that like the Legacy of the First Blade DLC the second episode would do something that would ruin my enjoyment of the DLC if not the entire game. LotFB had the forced child plot despite Ubisoft promising that they would never force that exact kind of situation on players as they promoted it, but with episode 1 of Fate of Atlantis I thought maybe this would at least even things out. But lo and behold, once again the end of Episode 2 ruins things by killing Victoria off. I liked the modern day characters, but now I can't help but feel depressed and pissed off at what Ubisoft did with them.

Moving this to the Spoiler subforum for super obvious reasons. Please be mindful of plot details especially when talking about the DLC.

Sorry. I thought I did post in the Spoiler section.

Well at least your response answers my question about me possibly misinterpreting the scene. There goes that last shred of hope. T_T

As i understood it Victoria didn't die, only knocked out. Layla says something like "i am going in, don't let anything happen to her"

To me that seemed like she was saying watch over the body. When Layla checks on Victoria there is no expression of relief that she is merely unconscious or any action taken to get help, and some of the dialogue suggests death like when Layla said she was her friend. Was, as in past tense. If she was alive, she’d say is my friend.

Hmm well it's an interesting cliffhanger for sure, whether it's really a plot twist I'm not sure.

The prologue hints at a traitor/spy in the 'real world' Assassin group Leila is a part of. And in episode one Victoria just shows up, leading the enemies straight to Atlantis...
Would not be surprised at all if Victoria is revealed to be the 'interloper'. And I'd be okay with that since I found her really annoying anyway

Honestly? I don't care. The modern day storyline is nothing but a distraction in my eyes and the game didn't give us a real chance to bond with any of the modern day characters. At least not in my eyes, I am still not convinced that Victoria is dead though. She could be. And if she is...well...that's surely nothing that could ruin the whole DLC for me. If they want, they can kill Leyla as well and I still would not care.

I think it's left kind of vague.

I think we're supposed to believe she's dead, but I'm not sure that's exactly the case.

Kinda reminds me of Desmond being forced to kill Lucy, though I'll admit I don't feel like we're familiar enough with Victoria for it to quite pack the same punch. Still... dang, Layla's giving into the dark side a little bit, and that's interesting.

Yeah I don't think Victoria died.....the way she was hit with the staff did not indicate any actual wound or bleeding were caused....she was most likely just knocked out. And Layla before leaving said something along the lines of "make sure nothing happens to her and don't go anywhere" which should be a clear indication that Victoria is not dead. Aside from that I'm not really upset about this at all....it makes things interesting.

I mean it's been very clearly established that Isu artifacts bend the minds of people and turn them into monsters so why would it be shocking that Layla has to fight to resist the staff to gain control over it rather than having it consume her?

    I wonder if that's what's going on.

From what I can tell, the general consensus is that Layla's current aggression comes from reliving that Deimos memory, but you're totally right that the PoEs could have a similar affect on someone. I hadn't considered that.
