The AI have always been more dumb than intelligent. The AI team in Wildlands were the most capable so far by a long way, the trouble being they were asked to do just a little too much. In GRAW and FS they operated in narrow corridors that had scripted triggers so their limitations weren't exposed. In the original the ingenious trick was to give the player full tactical control and body swapping capability over the team which imbued a sense of an intelligent set of AI squad mates, If they faced the wrong way or fired when they shouldn't or wandered into the view of an enemy it was your fault not their's.

The first GhostRecon was the most capable imo. And the setup was simple enough that you could command them with a Ps2Controller.

Just look at this manual. Look at all the options. With this, you could play the same mission so many different ways.
And the AI was good enough on it's own. You didn't have to play them personally. You just can't have them run'gun. You gotta have them on "recon" mode. When they spot the enemy, wait for them to take cover and then let them engage.

That simple AI was so useful that I used to challenge myself and replay missions without firing a single shot as a player.

Yeah, that is the system that I would love to see make a comeback. I was the same as you and had endless hours commanding my squad.

I'm one of the few that enjoyed having an all female ghost team and liked their banter. While they weren't the smartest, I found them leaps and bounds more sufferable than random players.

The squad teams in Wildlands never worked for me, if I said hold your position, they where still running around lol, but now fortunately I can turn them off and that’s great

Because they needed to evade enemy detection zones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqQhiKgZQsg

Thanks for the info and the info video,

I know what you trying to tell me whit the video. And whit all do respect:

I don’t use the squad team because i’’m a Ghost/Stealth player not a shooter/assault player, when I go to a mission whit the squad team they always gets spotted and start shooting arround. And that destroys my mission. Therefore I turn the squad team of.

I understand that the squad team is created for support in a combat situation, and they can be very useful in combat, But in ghost/Stealth not at all, in my humble opinion.
I use the drone a lot in Wildlands “love it” and playing cat and mouse whit the npc’s Is For Me fun. So my comment wasn't meant as a complain just a factual observation, the way I play Wildlands. And I play solo not Co-op or pvp.

The idea about the squad team is good no doubt about it, but for me it just don’t work.

I’m sorry I did not explain my self good enough. But I do whish that the squad team works, in same way they do in farcry 5
i’m Maybe the only one who think that way.. But that just my humble opinion.

I’m apologizing for my l language, English isn’t my native language. So I always trying to have short comments.

I do appreciate your answer thanks

See, if you leave the AI alone, and just let them do their own thing, they cannot be spotted. They can only be seen, if you are telling them where to go, or what to do. So by telling them to hold position, you inadvertently, made it possible for them to be spotted. I have over 1700 hours in game, and the AI have never been spotted, when I've ignored them.

Lately my AI team on Wildlands have been spotted w/o commands. To my pleasant surprise as well, they've randomly been making stealth kills without being ordered to do so. I'm not sure if its a glitch though it probably is. The last time it happened it saved the team from being spotted.

They have their pros and cons just like human players. I like them because of the team leader experience. Playing with randoms or friends, everyone wants to do their own thing. It's especially less immersive with friends who play with the radar and enemy identifier icons on while I only play with just the compass and gear status on. My friends also used the drone while I found it 100x more fun scouting with just binoculars and not knowing where the enemy is all of the time while sneaking around the camps. Playing with other players that use the drone and full HUD put me at a disadvantage with how I prefer to play. The team leader experience was also just nonexistent. .

My family and friends have moved on to other games like The Division 2. I played it with them for a month or two and then found myself back in Wildlands playing Ghost Mode. The AI team is a great fill in for their absence and my play style.

One of the problems for me with Breakpoint was the world felt a little boring. I know many people weren’t fond of the AI chatter in Wildlands, but it gave the open world life. The comments and conversation about the local area, added to the illusion of being there.

As for commands, AI Bluefoxs thread on this subject pretty much nails how it should be.
