Mare Is will always have a place in my heart too. My dad was stationed there when I was born back in 82.

Used to be a Japanese Midget Sub on display there. I watched the Kamehameha launch when I was eleven. Real cool stuff for a kid. I even remember seeing the reserve fleet boats all docked there that you can find some photos of at navsource.org.

Dad spent the last few years of his career stationed up in New London in the late 80's. Whenever he was in port, he would take my brother and myself to the USS Nautilus. Never did use the handset they hand out for the tour. Kinda pointless considering we had Dad to give us the tour. Nautilus was his ride to Mare Is. His first cruise was her last.
