This is just not true. I've been running SLI for many years and have almost always seen a significant gain in FPS in any game that supported SLI and in many games that didn't officially support SLI. And when I say significant gains I'm talking 50%+. You sound like someone who's never actually ran a legit SLI configuration. I could be wrong in that assumption but the only time I ever really see comments like yours, is from inexperienced gossip. That being said, over the last couple years it is very obvious that SLI is on its way out. For example SLI being enabled in certain games on release (or during beta) then having it removed later.... Community figuring out a work around for SLI, then the game gets patched and forced back into single card with workarounds being blocked out. Seems very much like an active effort by Nvidia to force upgrades.Originally Posted by Shipp71 Go to original post
Only had SLI once and that was GTX 780 3GB and there was at least a 20-30 fps increase in Splinter Cell Blacklist which was a NVIDIA Technology supported game, Ghost Recon Wildlands had NVIDIA technology and also was supported by NVIDIA with SLI profile but I never had SLI for Wildlands. It's beneficial for multi GPU users if NVIDIA or AMD work closely with game developers for SLI or Crossfire support. As far as I know I think AMD have worked with Ubisoft on Ghost Recon Breakpoint and I remember reading on techpowerup that AMD CEO Lisa Su said CrossFire isn't a significant focus. Breakpoint has AMD FidelityFX support as well as Ryzen? can't be sure though but I do remember seeing AMD start up logo in the closed beta. You would of thought that with higher resolution monitors and extreme graphics settings they would support multi GPU technology to drive it all smoothly, single enthusiast or high end GPU's still don't cut the mustard in some AAA games at PC 4k 3840x2160, unless you are happy with low frame rates?
The devs need to code specifically for SLI, given that 80% of ubis sales are console its unlikely they're going to devote much time to a fraction of the 20% of the PC sales unfortunately.
That combined with Ubi engines becoming cross platform then yeah, unfortunately SLI from Ubi is certainly being phased out.
Exactly. I'm currently holding out until next year just for this reason. Because there is no current single card solution that will allow me to run a constant 144+ fps @ 1440p. That, and the fact that SLI doesn't seem to work as well these days as it once did. And to think, just a few years ago all the rage was DX12 and what was it, Vulkan?, and how we would be able to multi GPU just about any combo for gaming. None of it really panned out like they initially said it would... And we are here today watching SLI phase out.Originally Posted by trakkaman Go to original post
