I've also noticed this.
I was getting absolutely no keys from field proficiency caches until I completed the weekly apparel project. As soon as I did I got one with every field proficiency cache.
It seems as though opening a cache is triggering something on the back end that enables them. There are other threads that state buying and opening a crate will also trigger this.
As of the weekly reset I went right back to 0% drop rate with field proficiency. I'm working through the new project to see if the same thing happens again.
It's just RNG being RNG unfortunately. Be mindful of anecdotes or superstitions, as they can be loaded with confirmation bias. RNG is just fickle at times.Originally Posted by KagatoAC Go to original post

You get DZ prof caches really fast and guaranteed 500 loot so it's well worth it.
Once again I have to ask, why is this information not available in game? Why not have some little tip pop up that says you have a xx% chance at getting an apparel event key when you level up? I think it would save you guys so much trouble if you would put information like that in the game. Other issues that get constantly falsely reported as bugs are no longer getting blueprints from control points. People aren't aware that there is a limit to how many blueprints you can get from control points, because the game never tells them this. No longer receiving cosmetics from suitcases.
