Genuinely agree. Stop taking your deaths and failures so seriousely, it really does help a lot.

Mordhau's combat system isn't everyone's cup of tea and that's down to personal preference. But it is a well put together and extremely efficient combat system. There are no dead moves, no overpowered moves, no easy one tricks, there is no spam and both defending and attacking take equal amounts of skill. It's a system that puts the player's intuition, experience and wit at the very forefront of the fight.

Each to there own... I don't enjoy it at all.

Not to be a **** but most of what you have said is wrong...

Frontline is all spamming left to right with two handers...
Efficient combat system, you mean boring?! back and forth back and forth while struggling with the horrible depth perception ingame...
The maps are horribly one sided to the red team
Shield is completely overpowered, the only real counter kicking is literally so bad it's funny.
Easy one tricks, Rapier shield, Short spear shield....
Intuition, someone throwing strikes over the head or looking behind them into a feint which you attempted to parry and no you can't parry again for a second ?
Chambering is the worst mechanic ever left and rite attempts are pretty useless

It makes the combat system in for honor look an alienware PC while it's still trying to crack the enigma code...

Each to there own though... it has potential.

To go back to the OP

I pick my champs the same - don't forget why you are picking the worst. Its a challenge. Don't let it annoy you when its hard, just push through till you learn your counters & remember your wins are worth 3x for it.

EDIT: though never play angry. Go watch youtube, read a book or clean that weird green thingy out of your fridge. You are setting the game to max difficulty, never forget that easy mode is just a character away

EDIT EDIT: I learnt this by snapping it too often haha, sometimes on this forum (oh the shame )

    My +1 here.

Couple day ago I lost match after match. My burn point was a match when I played with 1 kill and 10 deathes. My worst score, I guess. So I closed the game, spend my time to watch last episode of Game of Thrones and relax. I returned next morning and played as usual and had a lot of fun.=)
Game like For Honor could be very frustrating and some matches can make you hopeless. But after all it's a game. And even if you lose, nothing special will happend. Anyway, when you calm, you could find a solution to every situation. Well, exepct 3 raiders in the single match. There is really no hope. =)

Each to their own. If you'll allow me to say, by the way you describe things it sounds to me like you're just not very good at that style of combat, which is fine. It's not everybody's cup of tea like I said. Shields are strong but the kick is hardly useless in countering them. They even buffed the kick so it's better at fighting against shields now. Frontlines can be a clusterfluck if you're constantly getting mowed down and your teammates have no strategy but then again the exact same can be said of Dominion and Breach. The 1v1 duel servers are more interesting and fun for getting used to using the combat system imo.

It's not got a great variety of modes and it can become samey rather quickly but for half the price of For Honor I don't really mind this. For casual larking about I would go with For Honor as it has more variety of modes to play. But for a more rewarding and less cheap feeling competitive experience I would choose Mordhau any day of the week. That's just my opinion though.

+1 agree with OP. I'm pretty much at the end of For Honor myself, the speed of the gameplay has turned the game into rock, paper, scissors for me, mind games have been replaced with extremely tight defensive timings. Defense meta is bad, but 500-400 ms attack meta isn't better, it feels just as frustrating.

I have about 30 hours in on Mordhau right now, the combat is more about misleading your opponent rather than spamming fast attacks that are barely defendable. I like the physics based combat even though I'm still ranking in the middle of the group as far as score, it's tough to jump into but pretty fun.

As far as the cheap builds go, you can still hit someone who is using a shield without a kick, I've jumped up and hit someone in the head with an overhand attack with a great sword the other day, legs are another good thing to target with shield opponents. You can even use a thrust and miss slightly to the side and drag your attack towards him to catch his arm behind his shield.

If you get Mordhau, watch youtube tips and tricks, it helped me out a ton. I got completely spanked for the first 10 hours before I gave in and looked for help.

I'm at the end of my tether at the moment as well.. things like getting bashed out of a parry still exist yet they throw so many unblockables and bashes in you are now eating *&^% constantly no matter how correctly you read the situation (and dont think about trying to interrupt because guess what.. Hyperarmours popping up like weeds)

The devs have decided to change the direction of the game from chess to a twitch shooter, and to be honest I feel ripped off. I bought a different game, invested hundred of hours in a different game.

Its... sad to be honest - but from the bottom of my heart, current devs you have betrayed your loyal playerbase
