    I'm down for the count...

I no longer receive joy from this game unless I play 4v4. I played 1v1 and 2v2 for so long I began to hate it
Playing Cent only also doesn't help, I have 23 reps with Cent, 48 reps in total, and I have a 54% win rate, though I feel like every game is stressful, every encounter makes me frustrated, even low level players instill fear deep inside of me. I feel pressured to parry everything, and I fail 70% of the time with light attacks, I feel like I have to know everything the opponent does, and fail 50% of the time

I was Master, but I feel like trash. When I lose I'm desperate, I need the feeling of becoming better and better. I have a red NAT, though I don't experience drawbacks because of it often, I need to become better and better and better. And the only way of becoming better is basically playing a very bad character, right? 50% of the reason I play only Cent
I can't help but admit, that I am a bad player, I'm just so god damn frustrated right now

Reason for this frustration is I had a losing streak today, I lost almost every single match, the most recent being against a rep 53 Centurion. The fact that I lost to the hero I play the most has driven me over the edge, and I think I'm throwing the towel for a while

The game feels like a second job, I love the game, but I can't help but attempt to become better, and fail

Maybe you guys have some advice for me, I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired

Message to the Developers: You guys have done a wonderful job so far with this game, keep it up and don't give up. My latest complaints about balance was just me not accepting the fact that I'm just another piece of trash thrown in the pile of low levels

I may take a break for a while, though I'll stay to read your guys' opinions

Is this really it with the game? Or does it get better, and how? I can't seem to find an opening (get it? cause cent doesn't find any openings?) .. I won't give up on the game..I just want to be good

TL;DR : Game is stressful for me right now, more than ever. Though I may take a break from the tension for a while, I won't give up on the game

Yeah it sounds like it'll be healthier for you to take a break from the game. You shouldn't sacrifice your mental health for a game. Hope you recover well.

This might be pop psychology BS, but I read somewhere that if you're on a winning streak you should ride it out. If you lose 3 or 4 in a row, do not try to play your way out of it. I've tried to stick to this philosophy in competitive games and it definitely limits the ladder anxiety.

yeah thats a true point. when your frustrated and need the win so bad u will actually play worse. but I've been feeling this way for a while also on my Valk. i know I'm skilled and most my losses are because my race is so low on the damage output and the new raider and other changes are making my win streak even worse. so if I'm on a streak where I'm fighting raider and BP over and over and losing i have to just turn off the game and come back later on. playing frustrated only makes u more frustrated. id like to see some of these over powered characters become a bit easier to face so that i can play longer before i get too frustrated. as much as i hate to say it, if u want to win more you have to play one of these characters. its not a skill issue so don't get frustrated at your skill level. if u had as many hours into a raider I'm sure your win percent would be over 60%. chin up bro! I'm sure your a skilled player!

You would be doing yourself a massive favour if you stop taking the game so seriously. For Honor just isn't put together well enough to provide an enjoyable competitive experience and it likely never will be. It's simply not worth the aggravation of getting emotionally invested in a game that does not support an enjoyable experience at higher levels of play. The roster of characters and their feats (in 4s) are nowhere near balanced enough to provide a healthy environment for competitive play.

The difference between the best characters and the worst is far too big of a divide for skill to compensate at higher levels. And even if you do choose to play the meta the state of For Honor is such that the higher up you go on the skill ladder the less enjoyable the gameplay becomes. Currently only Dominion can support a decently fun attempt at competitive play but even then the matchmaking is frequently of such poor quality that you should never solo cue and expect a satisfying competitive experience. There is no ranked Dominion mode so the chances of finding a capable team in random matchmaking is far less than if there was a ranked option.

Best thing I would suggest is to find a group of players that you have fun playing with and just play the game casually for fun. If you're looking for a skill based competitive game that is fun to play at high level, For Honor is not it. If you want a proper competitive experience that is both fun and rewarding of skillful play then I would recommend looking to Mordhau.

does Mordhau devs listen to their player base and take action on balance issues? I've been considering getting it.

Mordhau in it's current form isn't worth a wank honestly... it's so boring and clunky, the combat system is terrible imo.

And yet it is the epitomy of easy to learn, hard to master. It is a physics based sort of combat where timing is more important than reflexes. Wich is why it is so hard for me right now. In For Honor you have to have reaction times below 400ms, otherwise you die. In Mordhau a reactive block on a feint/morph opens you up for a hit. So you got to be observant, instead of reflexive.

As far as mindsets go, I would agree that once you know you are on a losing streak just exit out of the game, that frustration only makes things ten times worse.

I've found that not caring about winning or losing is the key to rewarding gameplay, treat every opponent as a puzzle and try to understand how they think/react, then try to manipulate them. That way you arent playing to win, you are playing to improve your own understanding of peoples thought processes. It helps with the winning and you go into into the game with the mindset of trying to learn, which lessens the frustration build up of making wrong reads or getting really badly wrecked. When you do lose you have a clearer understanding of what to do to improve, and something to test in the next fight.

Final tip I can give is to make sure you've had enough sleep the night before you play this game, for me at least it plays a massive role in my reaction times, and since this game has turned heavily into a reaction time focus, it'll hopefully help.
