Anyone else a little disappointed that we don’t have physical copies for anything in the 2nd collection yet? I was hoping to find a physical version of the 3 newest starship packs but when I looked them up online there were only links for the digital packs. Just a question for Ubisoft, is there any plan for them?
You can read the full April 3rd announcement by clicking "Go to original post" in the quote above, but that's the part where Ubisoft clearly states they're done with the toys.Originally Posted by Ubi-Alien Go to original post
That’s a bummer, was really hoping that wasn’t the case. If I can get a decent enough sized group of people together, is there any way we can maybe change that? I really wanted to at least get the starship packs in physical form, thanks for the reply anyways. Maybe someday there’ll be a sequel and we’ll get a second chance at that, until then, though, i guess I’ll have to look for some kind of fan made figures of them possibly. Hopefully you won’t try to sue anyone for making anything like that or at least try to work with them and maybe give them access to the copyright or whatever, that’d be nice. I’m sure that could earn enough positive reviews and such to get us some actual figures for the game, but who knows?Originally Posted by Auld_Jack Go to original post
I don't work for Ubisoft. I'm just another gamer.
But the announcement from Ubisoft was pretty clear. The problem wasn't poor reviews, the problem was poor sales. And the announcement was also pretty clear that there won't be any more Starlink toys, ever.
Personal opinion: if anything, the toys were a problem for reviews. All of the reviews that I saw were about the toys, not about the game. People who didn't want the toys weren't drawn in. I believe that the April 3 announcement was Ubisoft's attempt to "reboot" the Starlink franchise. Ubisoft had clearly thrown a ton of money at Starlink, probably in expectations that it would be a series of games that would go on for years. They needed to try to recapture people's interest. The April 3 announcement was a clear statement to forget about the toys, that Starlink is a software game, that the Starlink software is even better that it was, and it's even available for the PC.
I agree with this idea. As a TTL gamer I would rather have the physical toy than a digital item that could be taken down with little to no warnings.Originally Posted by GunStarHero Go to original post
