I thought this game is about skill, but with every new patch - it is about luck and guessing (hello shugoki). But let's talk about topic.
Shaman has her Unblockable Heavy, that can be cancelled into gb. And, if you are her opponent - you won't be able to do anything with that. Dodge? Catched. Tryin' parry? Catched. And then, if you are lucky, you just missed a hit (which makes it Guaranteed). If you are not - you've been thrown into abyss. That's it - she has guaranteed way to hit her opponents and throw them wherever she likes.
And now, after last patch, what do we recieve? Raider, who is now able to cancel his Unblockable Raider's Storm into gb, which makes him even more dangerous, than Shaman.
That all makes no sence. Game literally punish you not for your mistakes, but for... your bad luck? Is For Honor about it? About luck and guessing?
All of these unblockable mixups have in common that they have a certain timing until they are able to do their feint. If that point is passed they have to stick with the attack. You need to learn those timings by hard if you get caught up too much with those. It is a sign of you reacting too early.Originally Posted by RayCrowe Go to original post
Btw characters with 100 GB vulnerbility on their heavies can nicely punish those kinds of mix ups. Since all light attacks have also this tiny vulnerbility window at the beginning you can use those or any other attack similar to counter those mixups instead. You need to look further to what your options are. On a lot of heroes you can also use the zone attack as an option select which would parry on parrytiming when the attack would just fly and hit if it was some kind of mix up.
Also, if it is all too much you can currently almost always opt for a dodge into roll to get out of a lot of situations
Very helpful advice, Klingentaenz3r. Thank you.
Still, I have to admit that Ray Crowes observation is not completely untrue. Shaman is a good example for both of you, Shugoki would be even better, since he (and Hitokiri) are all about timing. But look at Shaolin, Raider or Berserker. Their windows are so that you get situations where even in theory, where reaction times are 0ms, you get 50/50 or 33/33/33 mixups that are gambling against you, straitforward. In these situations chance works against you; every reaction gets you hit, aswell as waiting for some feint window.
