    Bring back underground!

Honestly it was the best time killer for me in d1. It was fun even with the same few layouts, the fights were much more randomized...and the chance for deadly hunters at any moment was always a thrill. Even though you were stuck in sewers and the layouts only changed so much...it still managed to keep you on your toes more than any mission in d2. Sure the enemies vary (kinda) but you pretty much always know what to expect and from where. Best of all...the loot was actually worth chasing.

I often leave D2 to go get a fun fix in D1 underground and survival.

    that would be the dream!

    underground but infinite!
the only problem with td1's underground was that it stopped being rewarding once you hit max underground level.

a solid version of underground without a max level would certainly help me clock a lot more hours.

Agreed, but even at max level i still enjoyed it more than replayin the same few missions in d2. An endless version would be great. Just something to keep things fresh. Its bad enough they said gear drop quality should improve and it clearly has not

The thought has crossed my mind to redownload it. Though the last few weeks i have killed more time in ghost recon wildlands than div2

Pretty sure it will come back. I figure those pipe wielding weirdos and their chainsaw bro mascots will be parts of new ‘underground faction’

Tbh I’d like a much bigger much more interconnected sewer system in Washington.

I want whole mazes with parts that take you tons of exploring to find. I want deep caves and old industry ruins below ground that those pipe weirdos have like strongholds. You unlock clues that let you deeper into tunnel maze and enemies get harder and you start finding hunters all strung to walls and carved up all Texas chainsaw style. Yeah because there’s something in the deep tunnels of Washington... something that eats hunters for breakfast, once you get past final clue and enter last part of giant tunnel system... they start hunting you. They have this weird ululating howl and you’ll be in the tunnels and all of a sudden in the distance you hear it... then again from the other direction... getting closer. Only way forward is deeper into tunnels.

    That **** would be cool.

I could probably pass on RNG rooms with regular enemies. I liked the mode for sure... but the randomly generated part I can take or leave. It was necessary for TD1... but in TD2 they have all the assets they’d need to make an absolutely killer map add-on.

Like a real f’ing maze with godamn monsters.

I’ll probably get purple 483 drops of the Tommy Gun forever though. It’s almost as good I guess.

Remember when devs made content for more than 1% of players?! Good times.

I agree with almost every point. Thats why im sure its only a matter of time. Just baffled why it wasnt there to begin with. To touch on what you said... D.C. is already setup to be an underground cave of madness. They had plenty of time to play with the mode in the first...why they would abandon it im not sure. Maybe they just like to make people wait. I was not as much a fan of survival but i know plenty who loved it. Almost expected something similar to at least one mode added by now. Granted i know it took a while in div1 but i thought they might have learned something through all the time

I believe survival was first DLC around 6-8 months in (date is just guess but it was definitely a while after launch.)

Underground and resistance was the next one I think. Forget now as I got them all together on sale with gold edition.

I mean with the heavy layering going on with Invasions... a true underground like we want would probably have been pushing it lol.

Both modes were pretty widely acclaimed and profitable. I’m almost certain during development that they said both modes would be coming back. I’d expect survival first.

They want to stagger major content a bit to keep player interest over time.

Honestly I wasn’t a huge survival fan until I played with a couple guys who really knew how that mode worked and carried me through til the end a couple times. It quickly became my favourite mode with soooooooo much replayability. I expect this time there will be a chemical attack meaning you can’t be outside for long and the weather will probably be an amped up version of the heavy storm we see roll in every now and then, the one that looks like mad max lol.

If you really want to have some fun... under the Graphics setting scroll down to Neutral Lighting and turn that on. Game gets much darker but is much more true to life light and running the tunnels or that storm instantly get way creepier.

You know I think they could have teased the underground mode more if they had sewer tunnels that weren’t essentially just a straight line. More like the tunnels in DZ1-9. Huge missed opportunity and all they had to do was just make some tunnels longer. Probably the easiest map creation ever lol drag and drop tunnel line. Done.

Also I miss the subway tunnels in TD1. I was so stoked the first time I saw subway stairs in this game. I immediately swapped over to my shotgun smg build and got ready to go exploring... only to find out the stairs just went down to a hallway that led to stairs going up. Godammit. Then every time I would see another one I would go running down the stairs... blocked off.

I really hope they expand on the existing map and not just make up some weird train that took you to wherever and made you explore a couple rooms. Procedurally generated is ok... but there should be some fixed points that expand on the environment we know and start adding secret entrances to ladders and hidden underground parts. Game world is certainly well designed above ground as it is right now. Tons of map diversity and ability to go almost anywhere with loads of interiors. Most I’ve ever seen in an open world. Wildlands had interiors... but they were just generic and felt video gamey. These interiors feel so real.

Does Washington even have a complex Tube system?
